[Map] Natural Pine Plantation [WIP]
i bring you the latest update.
i have been very very lazy as of late and well not much has happened... Today i jumped on and added a few things, made slight adjustments and added little tweaks. Wow, great map!
Idea for name: Operation Pine Beetle Pine Beetle is a beetle that has been spreading around West North America, killing pine trees, it is a sad site to see destroyed areas, I hope they don't get to my region up here in NW British Columbia. |

Updated pics look great, I'd change out your pine trees for the pr ones (i.e. the one's used on fools road, bi ming and qinling) because you will get far better performance from them i.e. better fps for the players. They can be found in vegetation/pr/ (its all the "fir" variations for the pine.
The island in the middle seems a bit 'man made' at the moment, perhaps make it slightly less diamond shape? Great work so far mate, love the industrial area you've got going and some of your sky settings in the second lot of pics If you would like some more detailed feedback upload your map with the editor files and pm me the link. I can hook up with you on Teamspeak and go through a load of stuff, give you some more advanced editor tips and tricks too if you like? Up to you. Keep up the great work anyways mate! |

How big is it?
The rivers need to be more winding, it looks like a badly thought out canal ATM. Sunken trees and bushes would make this feel more enclosed and less plantation like if you want a few natural forest areas, otherwise a regular series of paths through the forest would help. In forests you also get path-like features through the trees, it can get confusing but would add to the atmosphere. I dont know how plantations are run, but I would like to see a large part of the map having been recently cleared of trees to give a wide open area with tree stumps and large piles of logs ready to be taken away for processing near the edges of the clearing. http://i254.photobucket.com/albums/h...un/Show2_6.jpg Like this, but with more piles of logs in thought out places near the rear of the front along which the cutting was going on. And a lot more fox holes and a lot of stumps. Larger unduations in the ground would help too, to make ready made fox holes for players. |

ok,
Deleted old pics as gave wrong impression, will post some more soon. There is clearings with stumps ect. river has changed slightly, not so "man made" not all trees are down yet, still working on that. @Jonny- I dont really understand what you mean when you say paths, explain or picture please @Rank-PM'ed you, once i have finished the basics we can get it goin, ATM the militia main is a bump in the surface |
