Dont think its a good idea to put this in the designplan thread. As we see here its a good discussion now which havent nothing to do with the designplan.
Would says this thread should be better moved to the suggestions.

Negative, China, MEC, Insurgents and Militia don't use other languages neither. No need to change in my opinion.

Oh and what about the limited kits? I won't remember the order

In a mod like FH2, this works because every faction (currently included) uses the Latin script, with or without diacritics. I know Pinyin exists for Chinese, but is there a Latin script for Arabic?

"If you're wounded and left on Afghanistan's plains..."

Not exactly german, but bastardize the offical words in to english sounding words.

Like pionier, would just be pioneer. I'd change that for the engy and one more for the squad leader, so it woun't get too confusing.

By the way, i dont think the requestable kits can be renamed anyway. Afaik, the T rose has to be the same for every faction. So this is only about the spawn classes, so yes, one could see the icons and know what class it is, but as already said, it would have to be done for every faction and would then cause a bit confusion, especialy for newcomers.

"Select Rifleman kit and spawn at our rally point!"
"Okay, the rally point is a forward spawn point the manual says, so its gotta be that thing over there... but which one here is the damn rifleman kit?!"
"The one with the... the gun with the scope on it."
"Gruppenführer?"
"No, no, the one with... these icons... uhm... there is no pistol icon."
"most of them have no pistol icon. You mean Schütze?"
"Nevermind, rally is down."

:P (a bit over the top, i know)

The German classes should be in German, German's not hard to learn for most people that play BF2 (ie. English speakers). Also, you can tell what the kit is based on the weapon load out. The only problems are when you think about the requestable kits. I would know what the AT kits and Sniper would look like in German but I have no idea would what Germany calls SF and Marksman.

So, use German, but maybe for the requestable kits put the shorthand English in parathese after the German.
Examples:
*German for Heavy AT* (HAT)
*German for Crewman* (Crew)
*Flug--- (German for pilot)* (Pilot)
*Marksman* (DM)

WIPs: [Weapon]Chlorine tank, [Map]Kandahar (USMC vs. INS), [Faction]PMC
