Re: [Vehicle] Puma
One thing about WW2, is it took alot of names...and the equpitment didn't usually stay around after the war, so the names are just....
They took all the good names in German!!!! -Puma -Panzer -Luftwaffe -Stuka -Tiger -Protective Squad(SS)[sounds more like it should be a modern day German secret service] -Salamander -VolksJager(could have been used for a future cheap jet) -Ect..... (they did terrible things) but on top of that they took good names and when some people(who know about the WW2 vehicles) think about the past and a Puma today is just...it reminds me of the:http://clearblogs.com/uploads/d/diec...ctor/32043.jpg and not of:http://www.armyrecognition.com/europ...ma/puma_01.jpg |

Re: [Vehicle] Puma
I think the actual reason of why some names that used to be on german WW2 equipments are being used on today's equipments is just keeping with an old tradition of naming stuff as a feline animal.
I wonder what kind of equipment will get the name "Löwe" in the future. BTW... Panzer is the actual word for tank. In the german language we basicaly call every tank as "Panzer". For example: The M1A2 Abrams Main Battle Tank would be Kampfpanzer M1A2 Abrams The same happens with "Luftwaffe". In german the same word is used to refer to other countries Air Forces. |

Re: [Vehicle] Puma
As well as the english word marine is the german word for navy.
But the word marine in english would be in german "Marineinfanterist", which could be translated to "Navy infantry". Silly stuff |

Re: [Vehicle] Puma
Promising screen
The Puma will be a hard nut on the battlefield with protection level C. I hope he will survive a mine so that the soldiers can dismount just in time before the APC will blow up. Is it possible to integrate the close protection system of the Puma? (Sprengkörperwurfanlage ) Would be very nice to catch these crazy guys who try to kill us with their C4 |

Re: [Vehicle] Puma
the best on is it is more protectet from a rpg than the other apc that are in use.
but if we would be reality the puma could first added in 2010 cause this is the year when he will get used on the battlefield. |
