I didn't mean to be rude, sry. But why are you guys telling such... lies about engine limitations? For example, i remember some DEV saying that gravity in bf2 is not real, and that's an engine limitation. Then again someone else said that realistic ballistics is not possible due to bad engine. Now this. I bet you, Devs, don't even read most of Zangoo's posts that are right next to your own.

I don't know if ObjectTemplate.cullRadiusScale will work, but Zangoo already said about it yesterday, and I clearly remember someone saying it multiple times months ago. Also, he said same tings about regulateYaw/pitch/roll (turret stabilization) really LONG time ago, but It took me just a few hours to make a stabilizer by Zangoo's method (and I knew NOTHING about bf2 modding at that time).

Don't you realize that when you say "it's limited by the engine" some people (like me for example) may think that you'r 100% sure it's not possible and won't even try to do it themselves.

I'm sorry if I'm too rude again, but don't you think I have a reason to be rude? You, Devs, should be really carefull with what you say about engine limitations, because people really listen to you, and they trust you.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I had same feeling long time ago.

Think of hardcoded more fluidly, as there just isnt a simple list saying "Hey, PR DEV's, this is what is hardcoded, kthnxbai" you know?

The PR team is always learning new things about BF2 coding and such, BUT until those times, [insert awesome idea] is "hardcoded"

Ill link back to this thread once I've gotten fastropes working in game to further my point

So, are you saying that when they say "it's not possible with bf2" ppl should think of it as "we have absolutely no idea if it's possible"? In that case, every Dev should add to their sig something like this:
"we often meaningly tell lies about bf2 engine"

Once again, Devs, sorry for beign rude, I just can't discuss this with a better attitude.

Im simply saying, if the DEVs have tried and tried and havent found a way to do it, then they will probably infer that it is hardcoded/not worth the amount of trouble.

You shouldnt be needing to say sorry if you arent feeling like youre being rude. We dont mind criticism. Just say it.

What I said is that there is not a nice clean list listing everything that is and isnt possible. SO, if everything[read: the things the DEVs look into] points to it not being possible/plausible, then they will say it isnt possible/it would take too much work than they deem worthy.

Thats not to say that you cant undertake a vast project like Nedlands and Johnny which looks as if its gonna[or already did] require some number crunching and camera bone[bane?] tweaking, etc. They seem to be doing a fabulous job, but I'm sure its a little bit of hell with all the numbers/precision needed. Keep it up guys

It' like real life, not being able to tell the two apart is real life, reality, know it sucks, but so does the real thing

It's better to keep your mouth shut, and be thought an idiot, than to open it and prove it...

Dude, I will punch you in the face until you blackout! Move the *uck out!

have to side with Mosquill on this, the devs do use the h word to much, sure somethings are but others are 100% possible yet labled as hardcoded.

Still there would have to be wider scale testing to see if at least the majority of PR PCs can play with the new rendering distance.

Respect the R-Staff, they are pretty...pretty badass
so, if you don't like PR, get a refund

You also have to take into account that not all devs are experts in every area, so you have to take some of these things with a grain of salt. I remember things being called "hardcoded" from long ago[2005, etc], but then later get informed that I'm wrong/been misinformed. Its a part of life in general and therefore a part of Project Reality.

If this really bothers you guys that much... Im sorry..

In the end, if you dont believe it, or know a work around, instead of b*tching and moaning about the DEVs "lying" to you, go out and do it so we can all reap the benefits!

And going along with that, beautiful work Mosquill, I hope that this isnt a big hit on PCs[I kind of doubt it will be a big problem seeing as its just a low poly count weapon and a few scarves/equipment] and that we can include it in a future[soon!] release
