Bunkers: The new spam-point and spawn camp

So after a month of 0.7, I've noticed two things about bunkers and firebases. First one would be, that on bad rounds these two assets get camped too often by players, that requested support or a marksman kit and have no explosives on them or in their squad and so they decide to camp the asset and keep killing the defenders spawning there.
One might say that an engineer/spec op will come soon, but after seeing 3 squads just sitting around a bunker camping it for nearly 5 minutes and not even trying to destroy it it makes you wonder.

Of course, it's player-side and we cannot mod players. :/
One thing I do remember, that would fix this and probably isn't do-able, is putting spawn armor on players. I remember in Delta Force BHD, they had a 10 second spawn armor, so when you spawned, you couldn't get killed by campers at your main base or claymores, that some d*ck placed around a capture-able spawn.

The second issue bunkers being spam-points.
I was commanding the GB team on Mestia today and we could not capture West Tower, because there was a bunker built right behind it, providing unlimited spawn for 2/3 of the Militia team, supplies and all sorts of weaponry.
By the time, someone actually got to the bunker, the militias that we killed, spawned back and killed us, then repeat the cycle.

Add in the fact, that they were the defenders and kept flanking us since they had a guaranteed spawn and didn't care, if they died, turned attacking the West into a nightmare.

I think, a good way to solve this is to add an extra 15-30 second respawn, if you spawn on a bunker. That way it would reduce the spawn-spamming and give the attackers a chance and defenders would be more careful.

Discuss.

Spawn protection would suck, one good player who just spawned in could take out a whole squad running past his RP, for example.

and even if spawn protection would be only for spawning on a bunker it would make destroying a bunker so much harder. How are you going to destroy it when people keep spawning in it and you/your squadmates can't kill them. Basically it would mean that everyone who spawns has 10 seconds time to shoot the guy running at the bunker with a c4.

As for bunkers being spam points, well yeah, it can happen. Then you just need to destroy the bunker. Maybe not by directly attacking it, but for example in your situation sending an apc to clear the bunker area or having a squad sneak behind the enemies and shoot the bunker with h-at + at.

As bosco said, a spawn protection system would just cripple things in the other direction.

For your example on Mestia - why on earth didn't anyone on the British side bring up:

Heavy AT Kits?
Light AT Kits?
A Scimater?
A Warrior?
Grenadier Kits?

Just get some explosive rounds, of any sort, into the bunker. It stops people spawning and it blows the bunker up.

I almost made a post yesterday, conserning your 2nd issue.

In my point of view, 512*2-size maps(?) like Mestia and Ghost Train still have too many spawnpoints. Too spammy.
They should be downgraded to 32p maps or something. Either remove asset-spawn or limit them. Why, rallypoints should be sufficient on those sizes..

i simply disagree, my squaddies and me took out alot of enemy bunkers even one right behind east tower (no apc can get there) - porper tactics and team/squad coordination is all it takes

i'd love to see you attack the same bunker again when every1 spawning there has the "10 second spawn armor"

Got a PROBLEM? Check this: Project Reality Detailed Installation Guide

scenario 1: an enemy squad camps your rally/bunker, refusing to blow it up, you and your squad cant do anything and are all dead the second you spawn.

Options: 1. Keep spawning at the rally/bunker, keep dying and keep losing tickets.

2. respawn at the main base and start marching back towards your previous position, set a new rally and then counter attack the enemy squad.

scenario 2: You and your squad gets wiped out, the enemy destroys your rally/bunker.

Options: 1. respawn at the main base and start marching back towards your previous position, set a new rally and then counter attack the enemy squad.

In both scenarios, spawning at the rally/bunker is impossible either because its camped or because its destroyed, so either way you'll have to respawn at the main.

Just because you can spawn at the rally/bunker dosent mean you have too. just consider a camped rally/bunker destroyed, spawn somewhere else and start over again.

Perhaps it would be better to be able to disable the bunker spawn ability via knifing something inside? basically like an RP.

That way a squad without explosive support can still take a bunker.

ofc, the best way would really just to blow the damned thing up.

Respect the R-Staff, they are pretty...pretty badass

I like the way bunkers/firebases work now.
If you have 4 flags - you get 4 bases (spawn points). That is fair.
All you need then is a nice SL with a RP right on the frontline. If you loose that one, just spawn at bunker/firebase and do the same thing all over again.

@Raping bunkers/firebases...
stop thinking about how to flank enemy, and start thinking bout how to secure your position/clear your sector of battlefield.
Yes, I know sometimes it doesn't work and true - 80% of players will choose bunker spawn raping instead of defending the flag that needs to be defended... but that's the name of the game. Just spawn somewhere else, and forget about those pussies.

Outlawz, do respecfully disagree with you, i think that the Militia actually did the right thing.

They build their Firebase/Bunker close enough that they could us it to it's utmost effectiveness. I think really the question is like Masaq said, why didnt any of the other abilities on the GB team come into hand?

H-AT would have been great, but i know on most maps, it's always used by the worst person on the team, and you can never deploy it to it's perfect usefullness.
