Got any good strategies? Ever since .86 when LB are 25% weaker and have a 20min respawn time its a bit painful to fly both on karbala and ramial
I myself tend to mix high and low flying tactics and usually scout the city outskirts rather than being offensive. When I fly (300) I find myself easy AA prey while flying low I can get shot down by freaking AK's. I've tried it all in my knowledge from being a very passive scouter to being an extremely aggressive flyer weaving in and out of buildings. No matter what I eventually get shot down using either tactics. The only thing that has helped drastically is planning/calculation tech and AA movement. So what are your tips and strategies of defensive flying on either of these maps? |

Avoid where you think AA and technicals tend to be and fire flares before you even get a lock tone. Once you do what you have to do, get back to your main to rearm on flares.
Better yet, get someone to lase a target building for you to light up. Though sometimes teamwork is a rare thing on some servers. Recon with the LB is dangerous. You never know when you might get that AA missile coming your way. |

I hardly ever operate with out a spotter in any aircraft.
now that ALL helicopters with any type of WEAPON can SEE the LASER splash its couldn't get more efficient. |

I partly agree with hitman. Sadly, proper spotting is rather uncommon on pub servers.
I think the technical is the greatest threat for the LB on these maps. The only hints i have is to fly high, do not linger around in the same place for long and only go down for attack runs. Also every attack run should be made from a different angle. Planning the getaway route after the attack run is also important, since the LB is rather slow. |

Well one tactic is basically to get a spotter tell him to place an attack marker, and then from out of view distance light up the attack marker.

Depending on how high you are flying it makes you more vulnurable to technicals than flying low. When you fly low and fast enough you can use the city to hide, even when a technical is shooting at you. When you fly high that is not possible.

Flying high opens you up to more angles of enemy fire in addition to making it easier to be fired upon for longer durations due to the lack of cover. Flying low narrows the angles of enemy fire but makes it easier for them to hit you should you stumble into them.

Basically, "the" trick is to go from a hunting to a killing role. When you have to fly around at lower altitudes to hunt for targets, one lucky technical can bring you down. On the other hand, when you wait for someone to ask for backup in teamchat or over voip, and they can give you a precise location/a lase, you can come in, blow stuff up and get out again.

I always disliked the Rambo crap from the earlier versions = little bird flying around, searching for targets and then making circles guns blazing. As some have suggested before, the best way to play it might be sitting in the main base and telling squad leaders to ask for CAS in the team chat. Then you take off and make a strafe, no circles but a quick flyby at full speed. This will reduce the time you are looking for targets to zero and also minimize your exposure to enemy fire over the hot zone. Yes, you won't get 20+ kills this way but as long as the targets are properly marked or lased, they should not be missed. Yes, not as epic as before but it should work.
