Default Ramiel - Insurgent Strategies, Ideas, etc

Lets discuss...

I've played as a technical gunner on this map and while the technical is a great weapon (when in the right locations), it can be risky having a 1 on 1 engagement with a blackhawk. I was thinking of having a technical squad (3 technicals with 3 drivers and 3 gunners),and have them about a 100-200 meters apart (triangle formation) from each other and cover areas where blackhawks may land.

Also how about laying a ton of booby traps around the first weapons cache and falling back during the beginning and wait for an ambush (so that the opposing team will be running around in a trap infested area)?

Post your thoughts, and a overview map of Ramiel would be appreciated.

You need a lot of team coordination for both those strategies.

Who's going to protect the technicals if they are static ?
If they are moving, can they maintain formation ?

Grenade traps are great but unless they are well hidden or carefully placed
- the Bluefor will just crawl through them. Inevitably, friendlies will
hang around the cache, not read the teamchat and get their legs
and genitals blown off.

Strategies are wonderful but without overarching coordination
they don't work.

My Basic Strategies for Insurgency (Particularly the Iraq Maps)

Cache Defense
That's what it's all about, in an ideal world there'd be few nade traps around, a few mines for hummers and such and then lots of guys ready with machine guns and RPGs. The important part is co-ordinating an ambush with these weapons and not firing off prematurely. If possible, wait for high value targets like groups of infantry and vehicles. Make a mess of them with machine gun fire, RPGs and molotovs. Also in an ideal world the coalition foces would respect the civilian and attempt to arrest him rather than slaughter him, so using him in a tactic known as "Civvy Trap" to pull infantry into a coordinated volley of molotvs and machine guns.

Forward Ambush This is where the proper use of bikes comes in, these guys dedicate themselves to the sapper kit and take their IEDs and Mines to forward high traffic areas and they hide, in wait with the sole purpose of taking down high value targets such as APCs preferably, but also trucks and hummers. Sometimes they may take a bomb car and have that waiting in reserve. Only two ambushers maximum at any given ambush point, they should choose chokepoints. Ramiel is good for this as their are narrow streets and bridges that the american vehicles must cross.

Warriors
These guys drive the technicals and they roll out as one. In the tactic you described they are there for Anti Aircraft purposes. This is the same as my tactic, they patrol, they find the enemy, they hit and run, shoot and scoot. When there's no enemies they set up waiting for helos. When they get intel they move in swiftly, disrupting enemy firebases and hunting down infantry and hummers. They move in quick to reinforce caches defense and then high tail it out of there.

Martyrs These guys use the bomb cars and preferably coordinate with all other squads to try and score the perfect kill on enemy APCs. I personally don't think it's below the belt to hit enemy main bases as on Basrah, but we must respect the servers rules I guess. If they dont have a rule against tis, then attack their main base and take down their vehicles. At the ened of the day insurgents win by taking the eney tickets away before the enemy takes their caches away.

The best thing you can do as an insurgent SL is build DB everywhere. At least two on each cache position, I mean about 200m away. When the cache goes down, build two more on the next location, if you get to your total of 4 then destroy one or two that are not near caches any more.

The idea is to kill the enemy troops. The only reason you "defend" cache is because that is where the concentration of enemy troops will be. You need to kill enough troops at each location to get their tickets to 0 before they get the 10th cache. So by maintaining a place for your team to spawn will help delay them getting to the cache and destroying it, not stopping them.

My tatics, Know the way into the general area of the cache, and cover it. Have 2 technicals patroling and slowing down the process of finding the cache, to allow better defensive positions to be taken. Pretty simple

#1:Block of (almost) all entraces with mines, as you don't got enough. Use your IEDs outside the cities, near the roads where the convoys drive most of the time.
#2:When a cache is discovered, make a 300-500mtr perimiter for the RPG's, you got lots of high buildings, so use them!
#3:Attack LZ's, Ramiel has some LZ's that are used regularly (If I wrote it right), wait in alleyways near it with a techie, and attack when they wan't to land.
#4:Use the gary, and bomb cars on the convoys, when you use my bomb car guide, you can hit them 9 out of 10 times.
#5:Shifting defense, basicly a defense with a scout that reports activity, the insurgents go there and when the enemies are at the other side they go there.
