Like the Commando/M733 it's based on the PR M4/M16.

agree, this handguard is the version of the A2 the A1 had a uglyer one

The original A1 had a triangular handguard, that is correct. However, the IDF has modified theirs with a cylindrical one. ZZEZ will be able to confirm this.

And after endless talkes about this (because I couldnt figure it out either - I'm a AR-15 nerd) I can confirm it as well.

Yes, and if you look at MANY of the new weapons (M468, HK416, 417, LRCW ect ect) they all use the main body of the AR-15 design. Must be a true sign of a good design.
But yes, its a jungle and the total number of variatios must be countless.

(it is in german, but since most of the parts are described with english names, it should be understandable)
