Hey Lads, Ace here reporting from Ocean Shores, Washington.
I was just reading through the .86 Manual and I remembered what always pissed me off about the commander screen. The 3x view being completely useless, except to listen for enemy movement and fire. Suggestion 1: - Please allow us Commanders to use the 3x view, without sound and the Vanilla 3D representation (Eye in the sky), and replace it with essentially a 2D, 3x version of what we already have. - This would allow us commanders to more precisely place CAS Markers on positions where we could only hope to be correct previously. - This would also allow a squad leader, without a GTLD, to place an attack marker and relay the strike coordinates to the commander, without the trouble previously mentioned. Suggestion 2: - Just get rid of the 3x view. This way I wont have to struggle with my mouse, each time I try to zoom in, to get to the 2x view, to attempt placing accurate markers. Peace Ace |

If I understand you correctly, you just want another zoom level on the map but not the satellite view.

Another zoom level, capable of allow any commander to place accurate markers, nearly as well as the commander in vBF2

The thing is the map is not always in perfect sync with the actual ground. So even if you put the marker exactly on spot on the map it might not be on spot in the 3d world.
There is a way to check it though, but i rather not say it in public. |

Thats probably why he didn't say it eh?
Markers don't have to be exact, on a map as big as Kashan you can still get a tank marker within 100-200m of a tank, which is easily viewable due to open ground. On maps like Ramiel however, well, idk why you would even command on a close-quarter map. |

Give me an AK and I'll be on my way. |

i would still love it if the commander had a uav that allowed him to zoom into the "satellite view" from vanilla for a certain area. it sounds to me to be an engine limitation, but it would be pretty awesome as it allows the commander to give direct info to the rest of the squad. maybe if the uav allowed to commander to switch to its view with a good zoom...
this has probably already been discussed a thousand times anyways. |
