Talking New aim on scoped rifles

I'm pretty sure most of the scopes designed for infantry patrol weapons have a secondary aim. It is the same principles as the iron sight only this sight is on top of the scope. It is used for quick aiming, mainly to give supressing fire in surprice contact with the enemy.

So I was thinking, now that 0.8 has a ridicules delay on taking an aim through the scope, why not make a this secondary aim sight. Not as accurate but accurate enough to put your bullets in the right direction.

Just a suggestion

P.S. I think there's something wrong with this site... It's loading real slow all the time...

Back Up Iron Sights (BUIS) have been suggested already.

As for the site being slow, use a browser outside of Internet Explorer.

i think that battlefield2 is hardcoded to only have 1 sight per weapon. i could be wrong about that though as the sniper has 2 zoom levels..

also the draw times are being improved for the next version of PR

known in-game as BOOMSNAPP

As it is Scoped weapons already have the accuracy and zoom advantages over the iron sighted weapons, there needs to be some situation where the iron sights don't have a disadvantage to the scoped weapons. Besides, with proper movement etc, scoped weapons can be alot more useful than iron sights in cqc, and at close range you don't even have to sight in (I don't recommend doing that though, it really annoys me when people run around the corners drop to the ground and just spray) to be able to hit an enemy because you have an increased accuracy over iron sights and they have the delay before shooting if they sight in.
And if your too close to sight in, but too far away to fire without sighting in you can always run behind cover.
Though come 0.85 alot of this won't apply as deviation is being reworked and the sight in time for scopes will be shorter.
Also adding this in would require using another weapon slot and then you would have the issue of pulling the same gun out again when switching between the two modes. Then we have the issue of whether or not this type of sight is used (commonly) among average infantry units. Then if it was added only to certain factions people would complain about it being unbalanced, though if I remember correctly the german community factions were discussing about getting a red dot along with their scopes on their guns, though I'm not sure what happened about that.

Exiled.

How awesome is this weapon? Even the elevation knob and magazine have rails.

I think a second weapon mode would be a good idea. Another option could be to have the secondary sighting along the barrel, if the gun in question doesn't have backup sights. You could animate the gun being lifted somewhat, so that you can look along it and get a better idea of where your aiming without actually using a sight. This way the advantage of iron sights over optics isn't upset too much.

the german forces guys have got 2 sights on their G36 ie the acog like site and the smaller red dot sight (cqb sight). I think they made another slot for the cqb sight, not sure how they did it but im pretty sure they did. that might solve the problem if the devs want it in game

They put a piece of equipment in the 9 slot, and on their airborne kits they removed binos.

It may have been suggested before but was it suggested since 0.8 came out? The game is about realism but I don't see the realism in taking that long to be able to return some supressing fire. I don't say the secondary aim should be as precise as the iron sight but just enough to know that you don't fire rounds ten meters above the head of the enemy... I estimate a well trained soldier can return fairly aimed fire faster than what you can do through the scope in PR.

i wouldn't mind a 2 stage "zoom" style with BUIS first and scope second like the sniper.
or even better, 2 separate slots for BUIS and scope. i'd prefer this for the g36k's reddot and scope for the german forces, too.
