Limited Mk. 19 HMMWV?

I've been thinking about this - yes, it is technically a re-suggestion, and I actually did suggest the Mk. 19 (in a different role) when I first joined the PR forum, but I've never seen anything like this, so I thought it might be worth sharing with the community.

Right now, there are two basic types of HMMWV in Project Reality: the .50 cal HMMWV, and the limited TOW HMMWV. However, in an asymmetrically balanced map, the TOW could quite possibly be overkill.

I'm not suggesting this because the Mk. 19 is overpowered and hard to balance (it is both). Instead, I'm suggesting it because it IS realistic, and it can be used where the TOW would be severely overpowered in an asymmetrical map.

Perhaps the US Army faction could use the Mk 19 HMMWV to help balance its Stryker APCs against the BTR-90 and the Chinese APC (forget the name), much like the USMC uses its TOWs against Chinese armor in Qwai River.

Love the idea. Mark 19 is a wonderful weapon system. Just don't know that the devs will go with it cause of the noob spam that will surely follow. Get some vBF2 newbie and all your gonna hear is that wonderful thump thump thump sound, but constantly and probably to no gain. Would really love to see it though.

If brute force doesn't work.......your not using enough of it.

No thanks, it would completely destroy infantry (bad memories of Joint Operations with mk19 hummers on top of little birds...) TOWs are the way

Can imagine that on Insurgency maps.

Could it be a one-time-use vehicle (no respawn) on certain maps?

This thing would be very useful on Kashan 16, but probably overkill against normal .50 cal FAVs. If a realistic Vodnik is added, though, the Mk. 19 HMMWV would be fit well - the Vod is capable of killing any HMMWV without a second thought, but not the way DICE made it.

as they should?

SRSLY , whats all this crap about inf rape , noob tube ,etc ,etc ? just think about it as a MINI APC with less armor .

i agree it could be used in some maps , not assymetrical (aka insurgents or militia) necesary .

Re: Limited Mk. 19 HMMWV?

I think it could be usefull on many maps.
It would just need to have some checks and balances of course to be in game.

I agree with 77SiCaRiO77 above....
Why is it that when anyone uses a grenade launcher regardless of the type.....the name "noob-tube" gets thrown about. I remember this name getting tossed out back almost 10 years ago, back when Novalogic's BlackHawk Down was in its prime.
It predates BF1942 for sure.
Using this term "noob-tube" is a form of "whining" in my book, since it usually comes directly from some baby who just got wasted by one.

I think it would have a place on ANY map so long as it is limited to a degree.
It is a great support weapon!
I would even place one one Basrah....but only one. And with a little longer spawn-time as well.
I could see a squad taking a Mk19 hummer in to a position. All unload except the driver and gunner.
The rest move in to look for a cache. As they move in they meet some heavy resistance. The SL pops smoke and chucks it at the enemy pos. He then calls for back up from the Mk19. Who promptly begins to thump rounds down range and levels a building and its insurgent inhabtants....revealing a hidden cache!

Woo-hoo!

IF balancing is an issue, there's a variant of the Vodnik that carries a 23mm cannon instead of the .50 cal, that could balance it a little more.
