Cannon rounds and IEDs

I was at a party this weekend with two guys that got back from Iraq not long ago. My good buddy was a convoy commander in the Army Reserve and this guy I just met was a Marine Infantry Squad Leader. Both of them had stories of calling for CSA from F15s during convoy runs. The F15s would strafe the sides and shoulders of the road attempting to destroy IEDs on roads well known for IEDs.

So I am just curious if the IEDs in game are destroyable? Maybe the BF2 engine wouldn't allow weapons to prematurely explode.

Chapter III: Growth of U.S. Armored Forces in Vietnam

The OP idea sounds easier to implement though, one of the bf2 patches had mines you could detonate with grenades

Theres a vid that depicts the unstableness of ieds on a website that is not suitable for younger members so i wont be posting it. But it shows a cobra gunship's TV and their radio chatter. 6 insurgents in the middle of a road digging out an IED with the mussles of their AKs. (LOL) And after about a minute of the gunner verbalising how humorous it was, the thing explodes and vaporises the group in an instant with a large dust clowd that quickly vanishes and shows a crater about the size of a jacuzzi. so even if you touch them they blow up. engineers should have their wrench replaced with an explosive disposal kit and if anyone even knifes or uses a spade on them they should explode with a 10 meter kill radius.

If the knife was replaced, how would they capture civilians?

i think all C4, mines and IED's should be destroyable, maybe not with small arms or grenades but certainly slams and c4, missiles, tank shells, apc cannons ect, lets be honest if any of these things were hit with these guns in RL they would go down

so is it possible?
