No we don't.

I think they should have as much armor as an apc so when they get hit by an rpg they just crash to the ground but everyone can climb out if they're fast enough.

You would be surprised about how much people can take in a helicopter. These guys get out unhurt, totally fine and walking around. In Black Hawk Down most of the people survived the helicopter crash.

Since this isn't super high end Crysis engine time. You can't push for all the cool explosive stuff, the twisted metal, or having people next to the doorways flying out, but you should at least be able to see the chopper hit the ground, roll, and not explode. Sure it's not fancy, but neither is the engine. Having people survive helicopter crashes is more realistic.

This one is really sad, but despite such a horrific crash only 4 of the 28 die in the crash. The Black Hawk is extremely crash worthy.

This thing explodes in mid-air but both pilots successfully eject and open their shoots and survive.

It doesn't have to look beautiful in PR the plane doesn't even have to explode. The point is that surviving is possible for crewmen inside the vehicles. So it would be cool if all these vehicles get a substantial bonus to their hp so they smoke first before exploding. The jet pilot should have enough time after getting hit with a rocket to eject and pull his shoot before the craft explodes and kills him. I think it would be even more realistic if the crash doesn't even explode after getting shot anyways. Most of the time you don't see the explosion being rendered, all you see is the black wrecked plane slowly dropping straight down at 10 miles per hour and casually hitting the ground. I think it would be much cooler to see the jet not explode and instead fly full speed to the ground so its acceleration is not lost in the explosion. That way infantry down below could see this jet zooming into the ground and then exploding into pieces.

I think that this is a great idea, Especially for the Fixed Wing aircraft. They should be given a slightly longer time to eject, and i think the planes should be allowed to impact the ground, rather than exploding into a charred metal wreckage mid-air and slowly drifting to the ground. I also agree with the helicopters being better suited for ditching. But, I think this could be easily accomplished by just adding a engine failure sounds that would play as soon as the chopper is fatally wounded. I think that most of the time, the helos that get hit never make it to the ground in one piece because the pilot isn't aware of how extensive the actual damage is. Mabey a HUD indicator or sound wave of a engine fire/failure would immediately alert the pilot that there is a problem with the aircraft, and it needs to be landed immediately, as well as a slight increase of the helos hp so crash landings are more survivable as well. But I'm not the one to say, I'm not a dev. Thoughts?

Also, I think that certain terrain should be better suited for crashes. Mabey have water not damage the aircraft as much on impact at low altitudes etc.

Yeah, I think it would be cool to hear some very loud .wav file of an engine exploding when your chopper gets hit so it's really obvious your tail is smoking. It would be really cool if the vehicles could not explode in water so fast, but that may be hard coded into the engine. I just think fixed wing aircraft and helicopters could use a lot more hit points. They should be tough as nails so something like running into a tree won't kill the full crew inside a black hawk, instead the black hawk will go critical and crash to the ground so the crew can climb out before it explodes.

i dont see any mid-air explosions here....

fuel burns, and warheads are reltively stable, you talk as if fuel made of nitroglycerin
When that jet hits the ground, the explosion makes a JDAM look like a party popper.

I was simply making a point.

Relevant, maybe, at least I quoted to show relevancy.

Look back to the thread topic, It doesn't mention bailing out of jets but that's cool too.
