Proximity Spawn
The spawn-mechanisms in this game is the largest contradiction to reality, especially SL-spawn.
This is somehow justified for insurgents(/milita), since they are more likely to "recruit" on the actual battlefield. Conventional Armies on the other hand need reinforcements from the outside-world, yeah? This sounds really hard to code, but with the other stuff you devs pulled off, it might be/lead to an idea of some kind; Make the SL spawnable only within a certain range of a friendly CP. In general i'm against removal of the SL spawn, but i know many are for it, so this would count as sortof a compromize. It wouldnt slow the gameplay down too much i think, but would lessen alot of spammage. Of course the rest of the Squad can still make their way back from other Spawns, but if the SL is last man standing, he'd have to retreat to a friendly base for instant reinforcements. This suggestion would also apply to mobile spawns (APC and Supplytruck) if their spawncapabilities were'nt removed in upcoming patch. I understand that if there was way around it, it probably could'nt only be done to conventional armies and not the INS. I still thought it worth a try. Can it be made possible? |

No way, this keeps the unrealistic 500,000 troops on a single flag thing while at the same time removing the part where the squad regroups away from the battle.
Making the SL spawnable away from a flag could work, but I would prefer removing it altogether. |

Yea I've always thought spawning on SL was unrealistic and conductive towards a "no fear of death" attitude. I do like the transport vehicle spawn idea though.

Somehow I think this idea just won't fly. There are many cases when setting a rally point isn't an option and if the rally point goes down it could take your squad forever to get somewhere.
I like the general aspect of the idea if everyone actually worked together on public servers. Unfortunately though... if there are bad squad leaders on a team (happens pretty often - even on the TG server) then the penalty for the rest of the team is much much worse. At least spawning on the squad leader encourages the newer players to stick close the team. Otherwise they would see the spawn screen and if the SL hasn't placed a rally yet (maybe he's 10 seconds away from placing it or something) - they will just spawn somewhere else and the team gets scattered. I know it's not PR's policy to make decisions based on new players .. but there are limits right? |

I don't like the APC and comm truck as a spawn point but I must admit that a SL spawn encourages the squad to stick together. If you take that away the squads on public servers IMO won't stick together as much as they do now. Once a grunt or even a SL is killed and spawns X meters away from his last position the squad will have hard time regrouping and organizing another wave of attack. This will probably frustrate most people on pubs. Quite some time ago I read a post in a similar thread about only being able to spawn on a SL with an officer kit which IMO is a great idea supporting teamplay.

I think I read somewhere that the devs were trying to figure out a way for the squad leader to spawn with an officer's kit by default. That would kill two birds with one stone imho. | |
