getting the pilot kit is too easy/not restrictive enough

first of all i really like this mod especially flying, the only thing that really annoys me is the following:

almost everytime i join a server that has choppers/planes, its like 10 ppl standing around them with the pilot kit waiting, shooting each other, throwing smoke grenades, pushing around and so on.

if not that - the flying assets lay 10m next to the spawn smoking, because they where destroyed by a teamkiller or pilot that cant even take off and is too lazy to train offline.

not only destroys this the feel of the mod if you have idiots shooting and smoking at the spawn all the time, but also the strategy for the whole team. (think of wasted a10, attack helo etc., whole team waiting to fly) and believe me this is the case on all of the crowded 64 players servers.

i think the main reason is that once people know how to get the pilot kit and see a plane they do request it and get in. it doesnt matter for them if they cant fly and they dont care that this ruins the whole game for the entire team.
they just see it, think "omg r0x00r lets p4wn some!!!1"

now my suggestions would be to make the kit more restrictive. i was thinking about some ideas:

-put a teampoint requirement on all attack air vehicles (so the attack pilots have to show they know the game and do something for the team before they can take the attack planes)

-lower the respawn time on all transport choppers, 20minutes on a map like kashan are way too long for a blackhawk that is almost never there cause of the bored guys waiting for a10, apache and taking this valuable team asset for a joyride etc...

-or even better, once you requested a pilot kit you cant request any other kit within the next 40 minutes ( that way you make shure the guys that "train" online dont do that very often and the good pilots keep the kit )

-of cause limit the kits on the servers to the ammount of planes on the map

that where just some random thoughts that i think should be discussed and considered. thanks for your patience reading this, looking forward to a good discussion. greetings

Well all thats pretty much been suggested before, and since none of its happened, it might be impossible. I like the ideas though. But restricting pilot kits will just result in good pilots not getting them and bad pilots still getting in. Its a fact: only bad pilots teamkill.

One is none. Two is one.

I saw this in Kashan last night.
Some guy named hipcracka abusing the people in the Apache because they didn't have as high a score as he did when he was in the aircraft.
It is a video game.
So what if you are a better pilot than I am, does that give you some superior right to have the aircraft ?

I want to fly and if I'm not as good as you are too effening bad for you because it is a GAME and I want to have fun.

I am not talking about people who outright can not fly but the idea that you should have some sort of meritocracy for getting a pilot kit is ridiculous.

Agreed. I was playing vBF2 a long while ago *gasp* and there was a guy going on about how he was a real air force pilot (he couldnīt even spell) and that we should let him continuously take the plane. When he eventually got it he was basicly no good at all.

Put a delay on one re-requesting a Pilot kit after dieing with one?

So if the delay is 10 minutes - guy requests one, flips over a Littlebird, dies, then he has to wait another 10 minutes, before requesting Pilot again.
Would reduce the amount of people running around with pilot helmets...

[R-DEV]Gaz: Shout "WE R L33TZ" at the MD, sucker punch him, then teabag him while shouting "WHO OWNS YA? WHO OWNS YA? SAY OUR NAME! IGI! IGI! IGI! OFP2 Beta plz?"

That wouldn't do much though, cos it takes longer for a chopper or whatever to respawn anyway. If there's something to fly after a pilots just crashed, then there isn't much reason to restrict their use in this manner. If they manage to get some sort of aircraft in this fashion their either very lucky, or no-one took any interest in flying anything anyway, which means it's pointless.

I feel the current restrictions are enough. There's already a delay to re-request a kit, and as we all know, it increases when you troll the QM.

The way I see it, people wouldn't be standing around waiting for planes if it were more fun to stay on the ground. Let's make this mod better, not restrict people further.

Once the surface-to-air weapons gets improved and the jets wont be invinsible, people will notice that having to stay at 2000 feet to stay away from AA fire until someone calls in an airstrike and comfirms that there is no AA nearby isnt as "fun" as flying jets as it is now.

Yeah that should be good. Hopefully getting blown up 20 seconds after getting in the air will be so frustrating, that people will use it properly and communicate with commanders.
