Insurgent Hijacking
Well, I was playing Al Basrah one day with my clan as insurgents, which was pretty cool. We surrounded this tank in the roads, but we didn't have much to kill it. Even some random people jumped on top of the tank. Ofcourse, their is no way into the tank
But anyway, I searched for this and found....nothing...idk maybe I am a bad searcher... Anyway, I was hoping there could be a special class (something similar to a civi, except could be shot at, and instead of rocks, was able to open the door to vehicles and throw a nade in. Could be the HAT version for the insurgents. (maybe RPGs may have to be nerfed for this to get anywhere...but I'll let you guys decide that) So I was hoping when you have 2 guys on the top of a tank, they could open that door and kill the crew. (which would be hard in a fully manned tank being crewed properly). A simply fix to this from being overpowerful is make sure your tank isn't stationary. (the only real ways up their is the front or back, so if you have a .50 cal gunner watching your back, you should be pretty safe if your moving. Now, if it is hardcoded, I am sorry for getting your hopes up, I didn't know any better. EDIT: Should the insurgents, if successful, be able to man the tank? OR just let it sit there? |

Re: Insurgent Hijacking
Not going to be able to open the hatches when the locks are on the inside!

Re: Insurgent Hijacking
I'm guessing that means is hced? Or that we might have to blow the door to get in (which has to be easier than blowing up the whole tank...)

Just make sure you have an Ambusher with you at all time. Why bother destroying the hatch when you can blow the whole tank with IED ?

Re: Insurgent Hijacking
No, the tank is way too complicated a machine for the insurgents to handle, plus, as said, the locks are on the inside. However, I do think WMIKs should be drivable by all, same with the Pickup and Car.

Re: Insurgent Hijacking
Actually, this guy has some points. I mean they may be insurgents but they do still have SOME fighting skill. If the tank is stationary and is swarmed by insurgents why can't they shoot open/blow open the hatch and toss a nade in to kill the crew?
Obviously the hijacking part will never happen, as the insurgents couldn't possibly operate the tank. But the strategic value for the insurgents, to be able to kill the crew but not the tank, so it'll never respawn and the brits will have to come out there and get it. It'd be the perfect bait for traps and the like. So really I think this should be added in some way, as it'd help the insurgents out a lot if they decided to use some nice tactics, plus finding a tank sitting in the middle of the city is just too easy lol. |

Re: Insurgent Hijacking
No.
1) They might as well blow up the tank, the amount of time required to break into one of those hatches would mean the tank would have enough time to go back to base, rearm, go back out, fire a few shells, go back to base and then have base security all over the one or two guys who are trying to cut through at least half a foot of armor. 2) The respawn system is supposed to represent new forces coming in after losing current forces. It's already kind of gamey that if you somehow die without losing a vehicle replacements don't come in that would have if the vehicle was destroyed outright. Introducing a system to exploit this just doesn't make any sense. |
