USMC / USArmy Sniper separation
Would be cool to see USMC using M40A3's on sniper kits, and m25's on marksman. Similarly - M24/A3 (.338 Lapua version) and an SPR for Army marksmen.

Re: USMC / USArmy Sniper separation
Other way around mate. The marines use SPR's mostly for their DMR. Army uses M14's and M14EBR's. We actually already have the M40A3 for the USMC and the M24 will be coming back in for the Army. For 0.8 both will use the M14 we have but Katarn has told me that he plans on heavily pimping up his M16A4 model to create a proper SPR for the marines.

Re: USMC / USArmy Sniper separation
Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the DMR for the US Army now the M110 and not the M14? I know the M14 is out there still, and personally I love it, hard to beat a true .30 cal battle rifle, but it's already being replaced. If I have my facts correct one of the big reasons for the change was the Army wanting a 7.62 NATO firing semi-auto sniper that could be used with a suppressor effectively, and while the M14 is a marvelous rifle it does have problems when employing a suppressor. Also the direct gas system on the M110 is designed to cause less felt recoil, and longer bolt life. Anyway all that said...I do believe that a new DMR is in order for the Army not just the USMC.

Re: USMC / USArmy Sniper separation
AFAIK, the M14 is much more common.

Re: USMC / USArmy Sniper separation
I believe II MEF had an emergency request for them.
I know the 82nd used some M110s in Afghanistan. Not sure if the 101st is now. |

Re: USMC / USArmy Sniper separation
THis is set in the future, thus the M110 deserves being placed in, though without the supressor cause that would give gameplay headaches like crazy!!!
