many times i have gone to a supply grate to rearm of get patches, only to have to wait the same time for each item to fully re-supply my kit.
i would suggest that once the initial find is done that subsequent rearms are shorter. currently it is like this....( imagine you are doing it for real) get to the crate, look inside to find what you need then supply with one patch, round, grenade. then start the whole process from look inside again. surely once you have located what you need from the crate you would not have to spend time looking for it again. i suggest using the grenadier as example; get to the crate, than the timer starts maybe 25 seconds to find the grenades within the crate, then 5 seconds to take each round that you need. then if you need another item, lets say a patch, you have to find it in the crate again, 25 seconds. maybe the engine won't allow this but its well worth a try |

That's not possible to do with the BF2 engine.
Besides the Supply Crate isn't a place that you are meant to be able to heal yourself its really just a side effect we can't really change without removing the field dressing off every player. If you want to get healed faster, find a medic. |

On a related note. Do patches take so long to rearm becausce everything arms at the same % rate (1 patch = 100% => long time), or is that a balance thing.

If you have a rifle with 8 mags it takes the same amount of time to reload all 8 mags as it dose for a single patch if you only have 1 patch. Also 1 patch uses the same amount of "ammo storage" as 8 mags.

They did this because in vanilla, things with low ammo counts (mines, AT, etc) would use lots of ammo. Since patches are only 1, and we can't change the values of each item, they use up ammo faster then, well, ammo ^^
