Default Combat Engineer abilities and C4.

Combat Engineer

During a game of Fallujah doing some base defense as the USMC, I started wrenching up some mines the insurgents left at the west gate. I also happened to stumble across 3-4 grenade traps. At first, I thought I could disable them using a wrench while proning to not trigger the explosion but unfortunately it could not do the job. I also tried to disable it using C4, but unfortunately it could not do the job, also. So, does this mean the only way to disable a grenade trap is to trip over it? I have seen in media that the only way to disable a grenade trap is to cut the wire, so no-one trips over it. I think it would be a but unfair to the planter IF if the wire could be cut with a knife as every one on the field is issued a knife. So, in consequence, I am suggesting that wrenches are able to disable grenade traps, taking roughly the same time to disable a anti-vehicle mine.

C4

C4 is great as it is now in terms of destruction against bridges and vehicles but during the same round of Fallujah, I stumbled across an IED at one of the entrances. I thought to myself that it could be possible to "remove" the IED if I made a bigger explosion next to it, thus detonating it in the process, but to no avail, it didn't seem to work too. So, in consequence, I am suggesting that C4/IEDs and other hand-held remote explosive devices be used in order destroy other explosives blocking a certain area, such as IEDs, mines (can a explosion put enough pressure to detonate a mine?), grenade traps and other C4.

What do you think of these suggestions?

about trigger other explosives with C4 will make it much easier, and yep there shoud be way to disable the granade traps, like at lease drowing a granade beside it or a rock.

Going outside for ex. Fallujah if you try to wrench a mine the insurgent waiting there will get ya and the if one of them puts an EID as soon as he see you will detonate it so i think why not giving the oportunity of disable explosive by detonate them with you own explosive.

if you stumble across an ied and it hasnt killed you there is probably a good chance that the owner is dead.

From my experience in Fallujah, if the North Entrance gets mined, its sorta hard to wrench them safely without support but the Western Entrance is a bit easier to wrench with because its so open and the APCs like to camp at the northern end of the highway and provide you with a bit of cover.

Insurgent sappers can't always keep their eyes on their IED, all sorts of things happen on the battlefield which sometimes provide easy distractions. I also rather take the gamble of removing a mine/IED than to a Bradley or LAV rolling out the gate only to been blown to 20 long minutes.

Hm, a 'wire cutter' weapon that works similar to the wrench (just with a new anim) that disables nade traps would be useful, or being able to set them off by throwing nades at them.

maybe some wire cutters or somthing would be great for frag traps, and their so acessible to insergent like two or three fire and forget, if there spotid there useles any way instead of bringing up a EOD guy give cutters to specialists. most good squads will have them, if they dont, its a learning experiance.

and may be a specialised explosive for forced controled explosions would prevent insergents from getting pissy if their IED blows up with some other, i can see big civil wars starting over that, that would also prevent chainreactions of explosive going round corners( but that might be pritty cool and quite tactical)

New cutters, new explosives?!? And where would you put those? The inventory is already full with no room to spare... You'd need to remove something...

Instead of having C4 blow up IED's, lets just give the engineer a cellphone jammer
