You're sidestepping my argument again. If you're right, and the only people who need sniper kits are spotters, then alright DEVs, make the game super realistic and get rid of all long range high caliber weapons. From what I hear you suggesting, (something that doesnt make sense by the way) Sniper rifles should go to people who don't shoot in a game called BATTLEFIELD?

As for my 200m encounter, have you ever managed to not be 200 meters from a hostile on any game you've ever played? People sneak around. They get close. So unless you're spotting things inside a closet you're doing something wrong.

You should say the same about everyone who isn't infantry then. Go cap flags tank support, transport squads, logistics, Commander. Oops, game is broken?

Ingame, Sniper rifles are zeroed to 600m. Assault rifles are zeroed to 300m. The engagement range you mentioned basically dictates that unless you know the weapon well enough to know where to aim off at half the zero range, the assault rile's going to win. The sniper rifles need to settle too.

I can't instantly hit a target at 300m irl with an L96. Sounds like you think we can quickdraw longs
Have all crewmen had tank training? The kit system makes the job training make sense.

So what, if I want to shoot something at 300m with a fully settled sniper rifle I need to aim below the target? I understand the zero-ing, that's not my concern. The assault rifle wins in anything <300m because of it's high rate of fire, higher clip size, and more standardized deviation.

Im not saying take out your rifle, jump in the air and fire from the hip and it'll fly straight out, but like I said, the time it takes to look into the scope I think it's safe to assume this sniper is already aiming. Is 300m too much to ask for a snipers accuracy without having to wait 5 seconds before making a semi-accurate suppression induced shot on a likely moving target?

It's because it does. not. work.

Hate to say it but - you obviously can't use the sniper rifle.

200m? Jesus you were way too close to the enemy (Also, yes I have had games where I am more than 200m away from the enemy at all times, and when I'm spotting for a sniper if the enemy is 200m away guess what we do? we hide!)! Also, you DO know about pressing the 3 button and waiting till the breathing stops right?

Also in game the Sniper's role is RECON and eliminating high priority targets (Which is the same IRL afaik). If that Infantry man could either, See your position, or Was taking fire from you, then YOU are doing something wrong. You should be in a position that you can't be seen easily, and you shouldn't be being stupid and giving away your position because you saw a grunt.

I'm no sniper, but I've been on the receiving end of a good sniper, and have been spotter for a brilliant Sniper more than once. He hit his target every time up to 800m away, and they went down first shot. Do you know who we were shooting? .50 gunners, officers (Who is usually the one at the front ) and enemy snipers.

Also - if a Rifle is ZERO'D to 600m then ofcourse you need to aim below (Or Above, not sure, not a sniper) the target at 300m, because at 600m the drop will be different won't it?

Snipers are pretty much fine atm, they are highly accurate (if you know how to use them) and are pretty realistic, afaik.

Nibbit: Well done. That's just excellent.

Herbiie: -Did I mention that Im not retarded?

-I'm going call BS. At 800 Meters on any map (being a whole 3-4 that you can SEE that far in) there isn't a single way to see who is the squad leader, or to see if there is anyone in the gunner seat. All you see from that distance is the soft flicker of movement, or a shadow if the person has been there forever. Oh, and you'll probably hit the side of a mountain or the guard of the gunner seat. What version was this? Because if he was hitting moving (since they were in front) SLs from 800m, I want his computer checked for hacks.

-If a rifle is zero'd at 600m that means that I pull it out, aim into it, and fire, I WILL hit accurately at 600m. So how about that DEVs? Actually Zero the rifle at 600m, so the only calculations we have to do about accuracy is on the scope

-Snipers are not realistically represented in game as of right now. This is a fact.

My quip was meant as derogitory to the term 'sniper' in general. Brecon's where the UK's potential snipers do their course. It wasn't actually a reply to any concern you identified with PR

The sniper rifles are being looked at for the 0.9 release.

Locking this thread. Sirsolo, you have failed to realise that deviation is something that still needs to settle to hit a target at 600m. Your suggestion of pulling out a long and hitting a target at 600m straight away sorta pisses all over the original thread title.
