It would be nice if both insurgent sniper kits (SVD and scoped Enfield) could get some more items.
AFAIK they only have the weapon, shovel, knife, and binoculars right now. I would like them also possibly have.... -Pistol -Grenade Traps/Grenades -Moltov -Field Dressings -Grapple Another option to the pistol is to add an undeployed CQC mode to the two rifles. Adding these items would make the insurgent sniper better able to defend himself. Teamwork is great and all, but a big part of insurgent sniping is stealth, less people = more stealthy. And besides who wants to sit and defend a door on the off chance an enemy might eventually come along, when you can throw down a grenade trap and let the player do something useful. |

They do not require a pistol, as a spotter should have an appropriate weapon. And they have rocks.
Giving them grenade traps harkens back to vbf2's claymores, something I'm not entirely desirous of. We don't give them a grapple for the same reason that regular snipers don't get them; one kit shouldn't have enough equipment to do absolutely everything. I guess they could get one field dressing though... The SVD represents a squad marksman capability, meaning he should definitely be with people with other weapons, and would, at most, get one molly or frag. |

Players might be hardcoded, but that sure doesn't seem to stop anybody from trying.

I don't really want to argue tactics, but in my opinion an Iraqi insurgent sniper should not be working with a spotter. Rather than being the recon provider of a conventional military, an insurgent sniper should be killing enemies from a distance. I forgot about the rocks. But the only advantage they provide is someone could mistake you for a collaborator and not kill you. We've already got lots of grenade traps in the hands of the defenders of a high (friendly)traffic area, why not give a couple to the guy who is way out hiding on his own. It just seems logical to me. The grapple was just thrown onto the list. I know the devs are trying to create a need for a collaborator, but i believe all insurgents should get them, not just snipers, so thats really another discussion all together. As far as the SVD being a marksman rifle, if thats true then it should get the same equipment as the rest of the warriors. And more REAL sniper kits need to be added to all the maps. And an SVD should spawn on every cache. But currently, the SVD kits are being treated as sniper rifles, not only by the players, but also the mappers/devs. | |

There should be more snipers on the insurgent side. IRL there is much more of them.

agree with maverick but this would lead to kit spamming and would all get used up in first 10mins of battle with noobs wasting it

what i would like to add to the american sniper kit would be a parachute. i can't think of a reason not to be able to parachute with a sniper kit. and why can't sniper kits be in the same squad? the only spotter i would like is another sniper especially if i didn't need a grapple. so there would still be teamwork but no other kits... enough wanting a grapple when you have choppers that are chicken to insert. of course only a few maps would even use this but those are the perfect maps for it.

If you're having a sniper spot for you then you're wasting a rifle, the spotter should be a SL with an officer kit. That way he has a GLTD and he can place markers for you.

why would you need a officer kit to place markers? and sniper already has gltd. and its super awsome to both target 2 guys next to eachother so they both die at same time.. rather than shoot 1 and other hides.

And the admins wonder why I rage. Ok I'll make this real simple;
If you have a two man sniper squad you have one member as the SL, he will be equipped with the Officer kit. Being in the position of SL allows him to place markers and supplies him with option for said kit, with this comes the GLTD. The job of the SL/Officer is to mark targets using the GLTD. The SL also supplies Medium and Close range cover with his ACOG M4 and M9 pistol. The second member of the squad is obviously the sniper, he has his long range rifle and his job will be to engage targets that either he spots himself or the squad leader spots. If you have two snipers in a squad you're cutting your reach and cover in half, instead of having two sniper teams which can be in two separate locations you have one squad with half the cover. The second sniper kit wont even be utilised because he should be using his GLTD the whole time to scan the area, all you're achieving is the wastage of a kit. And if any enemy happened to get close to you you better hope you're accurate with that pistol, because if you aint then you've just lost your team not one but two sniper kits either to the kit respawn timer or even worse the enemy. Have I made myself clear enough? |
