Ah, But Robbi You are forgetting the amount of help from other developers and players that would come if a PR2 was Linux friendly. Don't get me wrong. I Am under no illusions on how hard it will be. I Am bugged if you think I would know where to start. I Don't think the DEVs will even try it. As Helix has already said that they are thinking of using "C4" as the engine and that is not on the Linux platform. But it is a valid suggestion and one I don't should be just cast aside. It's it's not going to happen. Then so be it. But I do think it is worth thinking about.

PR2 will be made for the PC first (as the engine is based off of it) and then at that point we can think of other ports. Way...way to early for all that. If the scripting allowed it maybe but as of now it doesn't.

But I will have to close this as you have a answer. And we don't want to see any windows vs mac vs Unix discussions.

Without the engine we are using being written to support Linux there is not a chance in a million that PR2 will be running on Linux.

However Eric *may* at sometime feel he can support Linux, but I think there will have to be some major developments and crossporting of code libraries to Linux , by enthusiasts before that will ever happen ... as I if remember correctly his reasonings are to do with the rendering libraries that he bases his engine on ... and they are not available for linux.

However if he should ever feel the need to support linux, then we wont have to do a damn thing. All his code is abstracted, and he would just plug a low level Base in that would work on Linux. However I shouldn't hold your breath as he has made it quite clear that he has no intention of doing it in the forseable future.

But who knows what the future may bring, if Google Chrome makes waves you may start to see the linux kernel more popular with home users. Either way ... that direction lies in Eric's hands not ours.
