Default SL's with Rifleman/Grenadier Kits

Compared to real life, "squads" in PR are closest in size to a somewhat large fireteam or a somewhat small squad. In the USMC, the team leader often carries a M203.

Why not enable SL's with Grenadier and Rifleman kits to be able to set Rally points and rally points only? They would still need to find a supply crate to obtain a team-limited grenadier kit. In cases when the squad has just gone through some serious combat, loses half the squad and the RP, and the SL ends up with an enemy rifleman kit, they can still rally instead of "Oh **** I dont have an Officer kit".

The spawnable, unlimited Officer kit would still be most common and preferred because it is the only kit with which you may build FOBs with, call in area attacks, and lase targets for CAS with the GLTD. Plus a 1337 pistol and Green smoke.

I dont think allowing SL's with grenadier and rifleman kits to be able to set RP's will cause current PR Squad Leaders to become more focused on killing and less on leading the squad. Currently good Squad Leaders will stay good leaders and will also enjoy increased firepower and flexibility when planning their infantry squad kit loadouts. The bad Squad Leaders are already grabbing sniper/hat/marksman kits.

In any case, this may encourage some players who normally don't SL to step up and lead instead of the same old server regulars (we can get tired of it!), something which I would like to see more of.

And at last I wonder if this is even possible.

Well the purpose of the SL is to lead and build FOBs given the class a kit without that ability would kill one of the reasons for its existence. Also a grenadier kit is very lethal if used properly and i think alot of new people to the game would find it confusing and take this over the non GL kit.

Preventing Exploits..

Enemy Contact... SL gets killed.. Rally down...

3 guys in squad left alive...
3 dead guys leave squad..
New rifleman SL sets spawn...
3 dead guys spawn in..

Exploit..

I often wish Combat Engineer SL's could set Rallys, but thats just because you can build with them and they have IronSights.. with the introduciton of the Ironsight Officer Kit, I forsee myself as SL much more often.

Except for the fact you can't join a squad when you are dead/wounded. You can leave, but you can't come back. The ones who leave would have to go all the way back to main, or the nearest FOB.

Dead guys don't have to leave the squad. The SL does but the rest depends on people's ingame "number" as this determines who becomes squad leader.
