South African or United African Force
Almost all continental forces are on PR excluding 1 of the largest Africa! Probably not going to happen unless you are willing to start a community faction your self and recruit modelers skinners etc.

Project Reality was founded on the idea of making a realistic modification for the BF2 engine, and also to introduce the British Army. Along the way, the USMC and US Army split, but that was mostly because they shared much of the same equipment. PR has not made any new factions from scratch other than the British Army, as that was one of the major goals of the mod.
The creation of a faction is a huge investment requiring player models, kit geometries, weapon models, vehicle models, textures for all of the above and maps. Because of this, PR encourages what are known as "Community Mods", providing a space on the forum for interested members to build the faction from the ground up. The Russian Forces for example are a community mod implemented into the game. If you intend to create the South African Army, feel free to make a post in the Community Mod Section with the prefix [Proposal]. Provide references and begin your modeling and mapping and assemble a team. When you feel your community mod has gained enough steam to continue work at a steady pace, submit a presentation to the Dev team and they will review your work so far and your intentions. If they believe the faction is right for PR, they will make your proposal an official Community Mod Faction and may or may not aid you in your work. |

Generally years, no exaggeration. The French are currently freakishly fast and the PMCs are very small so they are current exceptions to the rule.

Also ask yourself why we need a South African faction. Of course we would all like our own factions in game out of a sense of national pride, however we have to take into account the amount of the armed forces that you suggest are in actual combat? Currently all of the Community Factions are very active in Afghanistan or other countries. Of course, a lot of them offer other things, the French for example offer a jungle type warfare, the Australians are offering similar. If you have the willpower and the people to help make a South African faction please go ahead, but the DEVs will probably not make a new faction from now on, but add to the current ones. Some DEVs are in charge of community factions, but that is probably because they suggested it and have earned the status of DEV.
