I wouldn't mind it showing kills at the end of the round either. The same people that care about their kills are also the ones that won't wait 1-2-3+ hours to view their kills at the end of the round....

Theres a couple ways it can be done, theres still debate on the easiest way to do it while maintaining some functionality of being able to judge how well you are doing.
How about being able to look at score board only if you are dead?

The kill counter should definately be removed. I find myself looking at the scoreboard too much during games, just to see how many people I killed.

Then all the people would suicide to see their kills... duh!

Oh, wait

I like this suggestion (even though it may be a resuggestion, Tirak ). Though I'd still have it so that at the end you can see how well you did overall, and possibly when you're leaving the server, if Ancientman can somehow apply his awesome menu-coding skills to that

What online team based game doesn't have a way to keep track of the score/kills?
Insurgency to name one. But there are others I have played that do not show total kills/death, but rather points.

Keep in mind I definitely think points and deaths should stay, and keeping kills at the final scoreboard I think is not a big deal, but seeing kills DURING the round I think is bad for gameplay.

I think it really shapes players into a "kill focused" mindset, when I think in order to achieve a more realistic gameplay, players should be thinking more about objective orientated mindset (for the Team Leadership) and a "I dont want to fukin die!" mindset for the grunts. Too much fixation on kill counts means players will do more risky moves and sacrifice themselves needlessly just to get in some quick kills. Yes, players will ALWAYS do this regardless of the kill counter or not, but I think by removing kills from in game, you will drive away more players with that console/arcade "KILL KILL KILL" mentality and in turn attract more of the objective orientated players. tbh I dont see a big difference in gameplay either way, its a more subtle thing.

For me personally, I would hardly notice such a change, its more about subtlety changing the playerbase mentality for the mod than anything else (as with many other changes made in PR).

If your main reason for playing PR is high kill counts, I think its a pretty piss poor game for that, there are sooo many better games for this purpose (unreal tournament, cod4/cod5, tf2, l4d, css, irongrip:warlord, almost every mainstream HL2 mod, etc).

And just because I have this opinion doesn't mean everyone agrees with me on the team so relax have a normal debate, without the need to slander everyone and say this is the end of PR

If you keep the score and remove the kills while still rewarding points for killing, then people are just going to check their score and figure it out, mind you.

You're right. I agree with this.

Another thing I think about when I see scores...

I personally would like to see a reduction of INDIVIDUAL scores, and rather focus on a squads overall score.

I think should be more dependence and focus on the squad as a UNIT, rather than individual performance. Would encourage more teamwork, and maybe people would actually help teach new guys more often and help each other out more (within the squad at least).

But I think this is prety hard thing to do.

One thing is nice at the end screen is we dont have top player highlighted, we have TOP SQUAD. This is great I think, I wish there was a way to make the final scoreboard not a listing of players from best to worse, but a listing of squads (from both teams) of best to worse, with each of their squad names on there just like the best squad screen. Also I think regardless of points, the squad leaders from each team should be highlighted on the final score screen, as these are the guys that truly deserve recognition (like the commander), not the guy with the 40 kills or whatever (though he did good too)....

That's the point of a game. If you want pure realism join the army.

I think you should just show everything at the end of the round.
