I would support this, however I think the delay should be longer than suggested.

I don't want to get into a war of times.

Getting into a tank takes more than 8 seconds.

Opening a car door, getting yourself (with or without body armour) and your rifle (or big bag of rocks) into the car, starting the engine (I'm guessing that beat up technicals don't start first time, dust and all) and driving away takes at least 5-10 seconds.

1.5 seconds isn't enough to stop someone running to a vehicle, jumping in and driving away to avoid a close quarters fight.

I hate it when the british use the landrover as a firing platform in the street on Asad Kahl, if you shoot a gunner, it drives back to the rally point and picks him up, if you shoot the driver, a gunner jumps in his seat and does the same but with a 0.5 seconds delay for the gunner to switch seats.

If you shoot the driver of a vehicle, that vehicle is going to have difficulty for at least 30 seconds whilst they either a) kick the body out, climb over and driver off or b) drag the body into the back, climb over and drive off.

This won't be possible to simulate due to the engine limitations I imagine, so we could meet somewhere in the middle.

10 seconds start up time on a landrover or technical will only stop them being abused.
People won't waste them as much.
People will man them properly when they are in them.
People won't be able to one-man them so easily (how many times have you see someone waiting on the gun, then jump into the drivers seat and drive straight off as soon as it hots up)

Likewise a larger penalty for tanks isn't so bad, maybe 20-30 seconds. It gives people enough time to get an AT rocket off at them before they bug out. Infact, I'd be suprised if you can even get from the gunner seat to the drivers seat in a tank, let alone do it in under 10 seconds.

We're trying to discourage abuse of the vehicles, so lets do it properly, like the civilian spawn timer, like the gunner delay.

I don't really see any cons.

I like this idea as well. Shooting the driver of a vehicle would have a better tactical value. +1 !!!

There is one problem, if u get in the vehicle you can't drive for x seconds normally. which is not portraying the same as som1 getting off a gun or whatever to get in the drivers seat.

I don't support this idea. Yes it takes a little bit of time to get the engine going but it takes about much time to start the car as it does to get in it.

HUMVEE-no
Jeep-no
Tank-yes
jet-yes
helicopter-yes

The idea of the tank turret not being able to turn after 4 minutes (not litterly) is retarded. What if for tanks we made the turret turn slower (like a real tank), the 50 can fire straight forward with ease but to look in a different direction you have to hit a knob under the swivel ring to change where your looking again with time it takes to turn (I like the way crysis did it, every time you get on a .50 you charge the weapon which takes around 1.5 to 3 seconds and since a weapon is never unloaded in a combat area).

Its a great suggestion.

Too often do I find others and myself going a bit 'rambo', exploiting the quick-ignition; like jumping out, shooting someone and when i take fire simply 'warping' back inside the vehicle, dodging a hail of leathle fire, like I was Nightcrawler from the X-men.

some people here misunderstood his suggestion.

There is no "warm up time".

Its just a simulation of you getting out of ur gun, to ur drivers seat, and hitting the gas out of there.

No seatbelt simulation or starting up the engine or any sort of whacky dacky stuff you guys are talking about.

He only wants to focus on the player moving from one seat to the next when in the vehicle.

The only conflict is that, persay you do make this for an APC. It will only take u like 4 seconds to dismount from the gunner position and just move up a foot to the drivers side right?

This will affect anybody trying to get IN the vehicle as well though. It will take time, so it will be seen as a warm up time. So thats effectivaly what it will be turned into. Because otherwise, all a player has to do, is to hop out of the vehicle, and back in it to avoid the delay of shuffling when in the vehicle.

Not sure if anybody was following that.

Well as it was stated before, was suggested, i would have posted this myself as i see this to be as crucial as the 30 sec warm up time on armor vehicles.

Awwwwwww i was reading up the other suggestion to this, and apparently the devs tried this, and it made the armor bounce up in the air when the driver got in, so they scrapped the idea. lol, damn... Well.... i guess thats a no then....

I was about to create a thread suggesting this. It is totally unrealistic to see somebody entering a Humvee, for instance, mid-combat, and driving to safety in a matter of a few seconds. It is just too fast and unrealistic.

good detective work buddy (:

sounds like a good idea but with a few miner problems (:

I know me and my buddy likes to take the tank in Al bras and run over the fences and shoot up 2oo-4oo feet into the air with rpg7 going everywhere pop of heat rounds (:

Twisted Helix: Yep you were the one tester that was of ultimate value.
