There are pods at the ends of the wing stubs on the Apache (maybe Havoc, as well) that do all kinds of fancy things in regards to countering missiles.
But unfortunately there are a lot of things that couldn't be done very well in the BF2 engine simply because it wasn't designed to simulate these types of devices. There just isn't that much to work with when it comes to the BF2 engine. |

Its a good idea but...The Disco Ball doesn't fully stop you from getting locked on.If this was to be implemented it should just make the locking time longer.
A bit off topic but the pilots IRL know when they start getting locked, it should be made similar in PR. |

It's a new way of creating asymmetrical balance: NATO aircraft are harder to destroy with IR missiles (longer acquisition time), but have opponents with superior AA weapons (Vodniks, Nanjings, Tunguskas, etc.) and more flares.
Where's the lack of balance here? |
