Disco ball is more effective against infrared guided missile than flare...and the only plane i found whit Disco Ball is OV10 and C130...wich are not ingame...

Give more flares to OpFor is a good idea, since the IRCM is an electronic measure you can use it as long as the engine give juice...

But even then, attack helo have to go back to base for reload, transport need to get people... etc...

On a map like Kashan i think the D.B. would dramaticly inscrease the gameplay cause the helicopter ( in the 32/64 version ) are the easiest target you can ever have whit a Tonguska, so if it least they are "missiles protected" ( wich "recharge" every 5 or 10 seconds ) only if the pilot press the "Flares" button, they will got a chance to make they're way away from the AAV and drop they're soldier.
You might not have noticed but the devs (most of the time -.-) go Balance > Realism

When ever you make a post the thread becomes awesome NickO, but that is beside the point.

Call me a pessimist, but put me in a combat zone with just a disco ball, and I still am not going to feel safe.

The A10 I think and other aircraft and be armed with similar IR jamming pods.

There are pods at the ends of the wing stubs on the Apache (maybe Havoc, as well) that do all kinds of fancy things in regards to countering missiles.

But unfortunately there are a lot of things that couldn't be done very well in the BF2 engine simply because it wasn't designed to simulate these types of devices. There just isn't that much to work with when it comes to the BF2 engine.

I dunno if this works, it could be good, but it has to be done right.

Its a good idea but...The Disco Ball doesn't fully stop you from getting locked on.If this was to be implemented it should just make the locking time longer.
A bit off topic but the pilots IRL know when they start getting locked, it should be made similar in PR.

The internet makes you stupid.

It's a new way of creating asymmetrical balance: NATO aircraft are harder to destroy with IR missiles (longer acquisition time), but have opponents with superior AA weapons (Vodniks, Nanjings, Tunguskas, etc.) and more flares.

Where's the lack of balance here?

Yeah but the worst one, is in F16 when you're hit,

"Warning... Warning... Warning... Warning... Warning... Warning... Warning..."

"YEAH I KNOWN! S*** U* Damn Computer". I love the sound i wouldnot like if Dev remove it, but its very an annoying thing to hear when you're flying at 1800KM/h at 4000M of the runway...I just feel like if the aircraft was telling me "get out moron you're about to die". If atleast we can just press a button to stop the alarm if its not "hardcoded" like in LOMAC ( i known we are dealing whit BF2Engine..)
