In reply to Rhinos response. I don't make a habit of stating things as I do without having a firm opinion. The question is; is it worth starting WW3 in a forum? Alot of unecessary aggression being thrown around really.

Pardon me if I sound pessimistic. However that's simply my personality. It's a shame you have never been on the same server as me, or played in a squad with myself. Chances are then, you'd know me better and understand where I am coming from. This whole impersonal relationship on the forums is clearly not helping myself or anyone else.

As much as I admire your expertise and your attention to detail on maps Rhino, because you've certainly taken it to another level. But even on our finest example of Muttrah, and as gorgeous of a map that it is, wouldn't you feel that some of the detail is for naught? Areas of the map that are otherwise unaccessable like the mountains, or places that never see combat simply because of how a majority of rounds transpire?

What I am trying to convey is, as a digital soldier in BF2, you can only do so much. You cannot lean around a concrete wall for added concealment. You can't deploy your M249 ontop of a destroyed car for cover and suppressive fire. You cannot play a sniper and find a darkened cornor of a building firing your rifle through a window. You cannot use your ghuille suit to hide in the thickest brush to evade enemy forces. You can only interact with your environment so much. The rest becomes visual luster... There is simply only so much you can do. You can pour as much as you like into it, but you can only squeeze so much out of it.

As for being MOTY. I wouldn't think any lesser of PR if it made 1st or 100th place. It's about taking care of your own player Community. Because it seems that PR is hinting to be striving for goals to appease the masses. Battlefield 2 already appeases the masses, and we have already walked away from that. Keep the Community healthy and realism orientated, these people who share a common intrest. Players and gameplay matter, I would never sacrafice it for any title. If a title is earned, it should be the by-product of your efforts, but never the ultimate goal.

Like already stated. Both Developer and Community put thier time and hearts into this modification. I'm not asking you to crack the whip at anyone. It is suprising to think how close PR is to very good game play. My emphasis is that we can't afford to take steps backwards. Sometimes it's better to wait and fully complete something than it is to introduce it at only 75% of what it was meant to be. Kinda like how Jet aircraft are in PR. I really enjoy, flying and offering support to the team. But chances are is that the whole introduction of Fighter-Bombers could have waited till v0.85 to have it theroughly ready.

As for referance to devotion of "time". I have contributed to PR the same way as anyone else has. May not be as much as others, but I gave what I could. And so I have contributed this improvement list. I honestly hope it helps identify the minor outlying issues that still exist.

I might not know every detail on what it takes to make Project Reality what it is. However, any person both expert and novice can determine the quality of a game based upon it's competition and gameplay. In relation to the other mods out there, it's certainly up there, if not the best. This is why I am encouraging you and the rest of the PR members not to let up on the small details or start slipping.

Gotta stay razor sharp unto the end.

Take the Blue Pill or take the Red Pill?

The bit I'm pissed off about is that you think us, the devs are making bad bad quality stuff and are not working hard/long enough which is what I can gather from your posts. If you think you have put in the same amount of effort in typing up these posts on suggestions to make you have really no clue at how much work we put into this mod.

I have no problem with feedback, in fact feedback, well constructive feedback is always a good thing, but saying we are not working hard enough or w/e is simply not on!

Jesus Christ...

What do you think this thread is? There is a shitload of "constructive feedback" in this thread, yet you have to get cauth up in small details...

He never even said that you are "making bad bad quality stuff and are not working hard/long enough". He simply stated that just because you are volunteers, the work you do doesnt nessesary have to be worse than the work of people who get payed.

I am also aware that Project Reality is based upon volunteer work. But because it's volunteer work, does this mean that it must be subjected to lower standards or a generally laxxed approach on certain important topics?

While Developers are thinking of a new approach of gameplay, the Community is under the boot screaming to get your foot off of our heads. Then, finally at the end of the 3-4 month wait for a new update; the foot finally stops dragging us through the mud. Or atleast hopefully stopped being dragged through the mud. Then people wonder why we're frustrated sometimes.

But then again, Project Reality has done some shady things in the past and quietly slipped us a change in gameplay without us knowing. Especially at times without the community's conscent or opinion.
he's clearly implying that the DEVs are subjecting him to a product of lower standards that he hasn't paid for or helped make, so I'd be pissed if I were the DEVs, so just give him his refund and everyone should stop bitching in such a public place.

the DEVs are under no obligation apart from their own desires to do anything regarding PR.

this could have been so easily stopped by warren apologizing for the implied insult and talking about the constructive aspects of the thread.

Well, fuzzhead took the time to reply to the post with reasons why not to do some of those suggestions and who needs to be contacted to do some of them (although some are not really possible but fuzz doesn't know). Some are already being worked on and some are not for all sorts of reasons.

No release will be bug free, but saying we are ok with lower standards is just not true. Most people don't really know the amount of discussion, research and development cycles that go into the changes and additions. I won't deny some were added in without much testing, specially gameplay testing as it's the harder one to do. Our best gameplay tests are during the actual release as we can go with full servers.

Things get mixed up as some complaints are about bugs (that can be fixed), some are improvements on gameplay (that we agree) and some are about changes to gameplay that were made and some people don't agree. Well, this will always happen and it's been like this since the beggining, but we will stay focused on the direction the team decided to go.

No, no, I'm certainly not asking you guys to work any harder than you are now. Your efforts are appreciated enough already.

What I was hoping is that you guys would slow down just abit and shift your efforts to already existing gameplay dynamics. This would allow Developers additional time to absorb and consider in game bugs, including to focus on refinement of vehicles, tools and weaponry aswell.

I just think it is far better to repair and refine what we have now, rather than rushing something new that is still in the making. There will always be a another day to think of some new and impressive concepts.

There has been plenty of instances where even I was considering on improving something, then out of the blue a new idea came along. Just jot the thought down and put it to the side to evaluate at a later date. It's all about fixing what we have available already. When all is said and done, we can move on to bigger and possibly better things.

We must have a sturdy foundation to work upon, then we can expand from there. One step at a time.

Take the Blue Pill or take the Red Pill?

Wow, argument between the African White Rhino and a poor bugger on the arican savanah. Hes in a risky spot.
What we've got here is... A failure to communicate...Some men, you just can't reach, which we just had here this week, which is teh way he wants, well, he gets. I dont like it any more tahn you do.
10 points to whoever guesses this first.
I think the devs and MWarren need to get Skype and just have a conversation amongst each other, even if it's just a dev from each head of the deparetments
