There is one way I could see this actually working -
Have the Camera man be a kit just like Civilain, where Coalition is punished for killing them, but the Camera man, like the Civilian is an OPFOR sympathizer. So, Camera man gets an 1990s style non-commercial video camera (like the 1 foot by 3 inch black ones they used to have, I had one, might be in the attic, nevermind), and they also get grapple, bandages and binoculars. Now, to earn "kills" (in turn, lowering enemy tickets), the Cameraman must film Coaltion soldier being killed by the Insurgents (as you can tell, very reality based). Now, I'm not sure if Python will let the PR devs do this, but if you're going to get your camera man, this would probably be the best way.

well, maybe give the british 1 or 2 imbedded reporters that can go "interview" insurgents and stuff, but the insurgents are only allowed to kill them if they get say 10 meters from a weapon cache. otherwise, the brits gain a ticket or two.

either that or security's way

That wouldn't be using cameras for the gun shooting gameplay though or strategic war elements. It would just add another arcadey element to the game that doesn't have to do with war, as in actually shooting people since this is an FPS. They would just be loners doing their own arcade game to help the team get points or whatever.

In the insurgency game mode. Just make it a requestable kit and limit the team to just 2 or 1 and that's it. Not sure what he could do apart from give out med packs like a Civ. You could also make the Camera work like a SoFLAM in the way that it marks a little green box. If the Cameraman marks 10 OP4 insurgent players. He would then get the reward on "Intel" on a weapons dump cashes for the Non insurgent team.

Just an idea that somebody else came up with and I Said I would post about it.

While I think its a cool suggestion, its actually been suggested before. BUT, its not listed in Already Suggested Suggestions.

Lemme look for an older thread. If I dont find it, I'll leave this one unlocked for further discussion.

edit, whatever, this is the new Cameraman suggestion thread. There was a pretty recent one for insurgent cameraman, but let's just go with this one. Ill link to this from already suggested suggestions thread.

Discuss.

Well, in the community mod for the PMC/Blackwater faction, there was talks about having a "Camera Man" or a "Media/Press" kit, and they would have to go to this area for an amount of time. There could also be a game mode for that. So I say that if we can get someone on it, we should do it.

Just FYI, insurgent camera men are considered unarmed combatants (if they aren't packing) and legitimate targets because of their intelligence gathering and propaganda functions.

Now here is the trick. The "cameraman class" can be "Kidnapped". Same way as a Civi is arrested. Meaning that to Kill the "cameraman class" the insurgent must knife him. If they shoot him. They lose "Intel". If they "Kidnap", The "Coalition" team will lose tickets and kit. Not sure on what the insurgent will do with it yet.

EOD_Security-2252's idea sounded good but after a though abut it is it even possible to do this? I mean that getting intel points only by looking at someone get killed or having visual at a crate?

So the Cameraman can pop up in a third story window only to have a 120MM HEAT round blow his body into little bita visa vi iraq?

Kidding.

The idea of the civie being able to call out targets much like in normal battlefield 2, when a COMMANDER and only when a commander is present would be nice. Might make the civie more useful to.
