now were using bf2 vanilla parachutes,
but i often see this kind other parachutes on the battlefield (paratroopers and such), the difference: these parachutes will go down quik, and they wont be so manauvreable, i personnaly dont like to see chutes going off at 500 mtrs and they can travel the half of the map http://http://www.docukit.nl/inhoud/in124-3.jpg

They are really out dated aren't they?
I thought they were totally replaced by steerable chutes. |

Aren't they the buggers that need jump boots or they break your ankles?

I think the perfect answer(s) to this would be:
A. "Not a priority as we do not have an Airborne force." B. "Not a priority because we're not using parachutes right now." C. "Not a priority." Although it would be nice to get a map with Airborne troops with the appropriate parachutes soon. |

Also, you won't necessarily break your ankles without jump boots under a round canopy. You just have to be trained to land with your ankles together and to roll onto your thigh, hip, and back when you hit the ground. Apparently, most injuries come from people looking down and tensing up as they anticipate the impact. So if you ever find yourself drifting down under a round parachute, find yourself a nice place to land, keep your ankles together, knees bent, and eyes on the horizon! As far as pilots wearing jump boots, I believe flight boots and jump boots are very different, but I don't have an authoritative source on that one. To steer this back on topic, I don't think it's going to be a priority for the devs until we have another map where someone is supposed to be paradropping in. | |

So it is. I thought they weren't used after someone parachuted into a burning wreck in WWII, unable to avoid it.
Anyway, the mechanics can be implimented by removing the ability to turn and glide, which will only leave the model and mean that they can be used in-game relatively soon, with all the effects that they will have on gameplay like not being able to chose a roof to land on and being split up after the drop. |
