no there the same but they changed the name because SA80 was supposed to come out in the 80's but they fucked it up so much it didnt come out till the 90's so they cleverly changed the name.

SA80 was the prototype name. Small Arms 1980 (SA80). The SA80 name has just been used as another way to call the weapon. It's actual British Army designation is the L85. The A1 and A2 describe the varient (A2 is the newer upgraded version).
