That happens on all maps. Its the crappy view distance. Its interesting on maps that you can't see the huge aircraft carriers from shore...not to mention the planes that are only 500ft high....

^^^^ that is the most annoying thing in the game. viewdistance.

But its necissary because the maps are so big. its ingame noclips that mappers put on corners etc - well bf2 puts these all around you in a radious and camos it as mist.basically it wont draw any triangles past that radious which prevents you needing NASA's supercomputor to run the game on max graphics.

True, but I wish you could customize it....so you can see infanintly high and could see infinant towards the ocean. Wouldn't cause lag and would be more realistic....

Is it customizable? Or is it just a general thing (xxx feet in any direction or something)

If you edit the files you can set viewdistance too 4 which lets you see the map much more but i did notice that the models dont view any further away.

so you can see the map nice and far then a tank will pop out of nowhere in the distance.

Again because of the large size of maps/players/vehicles etc you end up with a big polycount per game which if could all be viewed would certanly cause a very bad fps rate.
