Default Muzzle flash, it's silly

Well, it is! I'm sure most, if not all of us on these forums have seen videos of real firearms in use, and I have uet to see one where massive starry fire goodness comes flying out of the muzzle of a gun. There certainly is a lot more smoke than is depicted though. Some of the older guns, like the AK-47 and RPD(was watching some videos of these) let off the occasional mass flash that we see in games... but it isn't on every shot. BF2, and most other games over do it with their hollywood special effects. Every thing has to blow up or make fire, but truth be told, if PR were to do proper firing effects I think they'd be just as good if not better.

Unfortunately the only way the game could be sold in California was if effect flash hiders were removed. EA had to make some compromises in order to make sales.

You gotta be kidding me! Wow, I guess CA holds all the laws. Everything you see now is ' known to the state of California to cause birth defects' etc. Then again if it came down to it where ea didnt cater to a commie state, it would be illegal for californians to be in possession of bf2?

I wish there was a way to code a muzzeflash only appearing in a dark enough area. If it's brightly lit there would just be a bit of smoke.

The way I see it, you could just make different classes for each map, each class could have a different style of the same weapon. Day maps = muzzle flash very rare, much more visible smoke, Night maps = much more muzzle flash, same amount of smoke.

Flamethrower! Plenty of muzzle flash!

Wait, they aren't being used anymore, are they?

Too hard to maintain, too vunerable when using, outlawed by geneva convention? Grenades and mg's work just as well...
