Post CoH – Modern Combat small arms christmas special

Hello CoH – Modern Combat fans</p> Some of you may have wondered why there has been such a small amount of information pouring out of our gates recently. Let me tell you, this is not because of problems with our modding progress. We have a lot of great material waiting for you.
The reason behind the delay is, that we are working on a new homepage, which should make it much easier for you to track our progress, get an idea of the mod itself and communicate with us. This takes a bit more time though, so please be patient.

But, since christmas is around the corner, we don’t want to let you down completely, of course. So from all the material, that’s waiting for you, we have packed together a little small arms special. The following pictures showcase some of the weapons, which will be used by our new US and Chinese factions.

If you can add one and one together, you already know what will follow this small arms special in the future. So stay tuned!

We, the CoH – Modern Combat team-members, wish you a merry christmas and a happy new year. See you in 2010!

These models seem rather low-res.

They are made for a Company of Heroes Mod, which is a RTS.

Yup.

Hopefully, I'd like to see infantry squads dictated alot by the upgrade function in CoH.

I'm just hoping that ranges and accuracy are increased to their Real-Life counterparts ingame, so that the javelin can actually be useful.

Everything will be balanced out, so real life ranges and accuracy (which is about 100% with the Javelin) won't be like that in the mod. That way no armoured vehicle would stand a chance. We would like to stick to Vanilla gameplay, with well balanced units, with everything put together in a modern day setting.

But even if you had real life ranges doesn't the person with the javlin need line of sight to be able to use it? So it would be balanced out by that.

Depends. Small arms in CoH, with the exception of the sniper rifle, always misses a couple of shots. So if you would have an anti tank weapon that will always hit it's target, it can get overpowered really easily. This would also be unfair for the opponent, because his (armoured) vehicles always gets hit, even at long ranges. I don't know how accurate the Javelin will be, since we haven't reached the balancing stage yet. However, 100% accuracy is out of the question, since it'll be too overpowered.

Tbh why even have the Javelin in the first place, I think they should focus on more traditional AT weapons. It would be much easier to do right and make it balanced.

The Javelin is to us a modern variant of the schreck/ bazooka. And what do you mean with traditional AT weapons? Something like an anti tank gun?

Something like the AT4, wouldn't just using it make your life a lot easier? Both for coding and balancing?
