Ah, like that. Yes, the AT4 will find it's way in the mod, we haven't decided which unit will be receiving it though. But the Javelin is there to provide (mid game) anti-armor support. The PLA gets access to armor in both the second and third tier. (the player can choose which tier he wants to go for first, either second or third. The fourth tier requires either one of those.) In the second tier it's an APC, while in the third tier the player has access to the ZBD2000 AFV, which comes standard with a 30mm cannon, but can be upgraded with a 105mm cannon.

Since both of these vehicles can form a nasty problem for the US player, it would be unfair to ask ammunition for a one shot ability, which doesn't guarantee a kill at all. So that's where the US player should invest in the Javelin AT team, if he hasn't got access or the resources to build better units from the armor tent. (which deploys a Bradley with the possibility to upgrade with a TOW, and a Mobile Gun System -105mm- version of the Stryker)

You can find a good overview of the tiers and it's units, here.

Okey I'm a bit confused, aren't you using a doctrine system like standard coh?

Yes, we will use a doctrine system like in VCoH. We're currently collecting abilities (if anyone has any suggestions, go ahead and post them on our forums ), and we'll put together doctrines later on. So don't worry, all the core gameplay will stay vanilla, so we're not aiming for extreme realism or anything on that matter. Just a well balanced out mod, with a variety of units, upgrades and abilities.

Because the best mods aren't balanced to hell, and not everyone has a preconceived notion that Javelin = bad

Well I just don't think that its a important weapon and I would rather have a balanced mod then some extra assets.

I just don't see the point in working your ass off to get a weapon working in a game that's in the end of the day is just a normal AT weapon with a cool effect.

The addition of a dedicated AT team certainly won't impact balance negatively. It was designed to counter APC's/ AFV's in early and mid games, when the US lacks proper anti tank weapons. Of course, the AT squad isn't a game winner, since it'll stay vulnerable to infantry, HMG's and mortars, if they're properly used. However, it can be a vulnerable asset if you are defending a strategic position. The mod leader, OnkelSam, is a very experienced Company of Heroes player, and will supervise the entire balancing process very carefully, so the mod will be balanced out as best as we can. Of course, there will be beta testers too at some point in the future, who will provide feedback about balancing too. So there are plenty of experienced Company of Heroes players who will supervise the entire balancing aspect.

Closed beta testing is still some time away.
