See the game you play in lazing in a target is waiting until the target stops so you can get a accurate lase. It's even harder in a chopper because you need to account for chopper movement, this has been said. I refrain from lasing any moving vehicles unless they are really close to get a instant stick.
I think it is fine the way it is because it inspires teamwork to have teams on the field sending a lase for CAS. Besides, if it is moving, and in range, it should be fairly easy to track it manually and land a destructive hit nearby to take it out/flame. Trucks can be drained by a spray of 20mm quite easily too.
If you want to fire and forget because of other tasks firing on you, you should change your target priority or get out of the location. Take time in taking your shots, tell your pilot to even out and hover, then carefully guide the hellfire on the target.
The current Laser Targeted system is really relaxing because you can fire without visual confirmation and forget, the target is dead.
