Re: Parachute: Guide

Medic jumping is horribly stupid.

One of the best times I have parachuted was on 32 Kashan when there were just a few players on. I grabbed the blackhawk, and the attack chopper was in the air, just floating about waiting to go to South Village. I decided that I would try to parachute down.

I reached above the cloudline (I think I jumped at about 900-1000m) and bailed directly over the flag. In freefall, I moved away from the flag, turned back and pulled my parachute at about 400m or so. I landed just 20 meters south of the flag, behind a tank that was waiting for some victims to come from the North. I set an attack marker temporarily on the tank, and told the chopper of the situation. The Cobra let loose a missle, which missed by about 10m. I told them how far they were from the tank, and the second missle knocked them dead on.

2 infantry that were hiding began firing upon the chopper, and the Cobra bugged out and warned me that they were taking fire. I found the muzzle fire and snuck up on an unsuspecting rifleman and officer; Stealing the officers kit, I waited with the SOFLAMs to mark targets that came close, and put markers on infantry. We ended up decimating incoming APCs, Tanks, and infantry and we took the village.

The game ended soon after due to lack of players on the opposite team, but a good parachuter can get behind the enemy and cause a lot of mayhem, with the proper support.

Parachutes could also be used to supply a stranded squad leader with bodies for a rally...

Might be usefull on basrah sometimes.

Also landing on enemy bunkers and camping them for kits.

Thats the only usefull usage of parachutes i can think of.

you could have two pilots in the squad. one to fly the chop, one to chute down, grab the medic kit and revive the rest of the squad. That way the rest of the squad can have normal kits.

my 2p!

Don't do that. That's just cheap. Don't waste bodies and exploit gameplay like that.

I know that the PR skybox is increased (at least, you don't begin to magically flip and twirl out of control above 1000m as you do in grand ol' vanirra) but I'm not sure if/where it actually 'ends'. One of these days I'm going to have to take a jet on singleplayer and just fly it straight up on kashan.

Squad members are wrong, it should include:

Chopper pilot is not in your squad! Pilots in squad are just for practical reasons.

2 pilots
Officer
2 medics
Rifleman

Pilots jump out, deploy their parachutes, land, wait for the medics to come down rambo way, take their kits, revive both, heal them, then rifleman and officer jump, medics heal them too, officer makes a quick RP, then one medic takes grenadier, one pilot AR and other pilot a LAT. Voila, and you have a perfect squad.

For single spec ops wannabe leet delta force uber recon squad, you can ust be pilot, ask the pilot to take you over to a enemy, lets say, sniper or a man camping with 50., you jump, he doesnt hear you, shoot him with a pistol , take his kit and do your job... I killed 4 clanmates that way. For fun.

Are you sure? I thought when you fall from a chopper you die. You don't get 'Critically Wounded' so to speak.
