Basic Flying Guide
A short and in a sense, useless guide, as You realy shoud know these things before flying..
I know there will be typos, but in the words of wise eggman, "Your mom" 1. communication, COMMUNICATION,Kommunikation,コミュニケーション,сообщение! It is important, If you dont comunicate, you will die by your own teams hands. Ive tested that, Either you run into another jet from your team, or a missile from a MAA/MANPAD/SSE is gonna get ya.. If you got a wingman, TELL HIM WTF is going on, If you dont work in a team, your out of the sky faster than you can say "OMG HAX!" 2. Proper use of communication.. As in dont say this, "Im gonna land now k?", It dont realy informes your squad of what your doing, It dont tell them were you are, what your status is, or why your landing.. This on the other hand is mutch better, "Eagle one, Going in for a Direct Approach, Bingo Aim120" This informes your squad that your on a direct line towards the airfield, and that your out of long range missiles. "Im landing now k?" DONT EVER EVER SAY THAT!, For one, it pisses me off, and it annoyes the squad, and they dont realy know if you have the option to abort.. This however is mutch better, "Eagle one, On final Approach" This informes the squad that your in the last stages of the landing phase, and that they still have some time to clear the runway before you get there. Also note my use of the "Eagle one", It simply informes your squad that your in an F16, and your also the leader of the F16`s while in the air, your the wing-commander if you will. 3. communication while flying. Let your wingman know whats going on, Let your AA crews know whats going on, let your spotters know whats going on, BUT FOR CRYING OUT LOUD, KEEP IT SHORT! Dont say "Im gonna fly over here and shoot stuff now k?". Be short and presicse."Eagle one, Il try to intercept the mig in Grid F5". Also keep your cool and coordinate your dogfights, and you will be owning the skies (Unless you run into a square of tungaskas, then your in deep shit if your flying low) 4. practice^1000 5. Air To Air combat.. You see him, he/she dont see you. This is the best position, Trail him, DONT go into missile mode, Your gonna piss him off, and you can bet he`s/she`s calling out to evrything between allah and the manpads.. Get close, then a single burst of fire from the gun.. If you miss, get the fuck out of there, he is gonna see it, and trust me, he`s/she`s gonna be pissed.. You see him, he sees you.. This is it, DOGFIGHT, we are talking loops, broken loops, immelmans, rolls, evrything and more. Go close range missiles, just to scare him, becuse they are useless! Hes afraid, you get the advantage.. If you feel your gonna loose him, bug out.. Your primary objective is to stay alive. He sees you, you dont see him.. Your dead. It will never happen.
But I agree that communication is important but the military talk is too much for most players. We need air traffic controllers. Easy way,...make a pass over the runway to see if it's clear. |

If I am in an air squad, instead of simply saying "Dunehunter, on final approach", I will first check with my squad. "Dunehunter, am I cleared for landing? Ammo low", or something like that.

I thought the basis of flying was to rack up kills and wtfpwn n00bs who don't know what they're doing in the air, and to pwn those n00bs on the ground cus infantry suxxxx?

I guess a guide for jets is a useful tool. But tbh they are due to be altered significantly in the next update so I will refrain from passing judgment on this section. Good guide anyways.

Re communication, get your own squad. If there is a commander who knows what he's doing, having air assets in the same squad makes his job that much easier. There's nothing worse than attempting to call in air support as a commander, only to find out that the aircraft are in a squad with a SL that doesn't respond to you at all.
Also, wouldn't "winchester aim-120" be more appropriate than "bingo?" It still sounds odd, though. Also, it's "you're," goddammit. Why does everyone on this forum have to use "your" for everything. YOUR DOING IT RONG! |

Way to spell "wrong", "rong" while trying to correct someones spelling, you can't just act like a grammar Nazi, you have to be one.
Also, this is all great and good for landing, but what about actual dogfighting? |
