Just because we were at this low altitude my gunner were able to see the whole bunkers at once... He shoot his hellfires and than we were going under at the hills again till the next strike. I think one important thing is never hover at the same position always move a bit while he is searching something... or do you want to get hit by a HeavyAT or tank?
Staying low was the best tactic back in 0.6 where you could pop up, let the gunner fire the TV missile and duck down before the enemy had a chanse to react. Now you have to hover untill your gunner hits the target and that can take a while when its 800-900 meters away.

When your flying at 600 alt on Kashan, your gunner can see the ground around the chopter PERFECTLY and will be able to engage whatever he sees pretty much unseen. AAV's usually dont drive around and look strait up (coz thats pretty much what you need to do to spot the chopter) so you can sometimes even sneak up on those.

Here is a vid for you:

Well, time for me to give my 2 cents.

On Qwai, remember that the chinese chopper is not an attack chopper. It is a scout chopper, use it as such.

If you have to take down the LB when its close enough, but you will do much better when its below you and its going to deck for a landing.

Drop flares, get the hell out and not go back. Or take it out, if it doesn´t spot you and you see it first.

Well I've had plenty of practice offline and felt pretty confident about flying online tonight. As soon as other people started appearing on my screen the PC started to slow down badly and I barely managed to land and only half a squad managed to get out before the chopper felt on its side

Sorry to those I killed on Al Basrah tonight.

Hey if you feel a heli get out of control at all and you are within 20 feet of the ground just switch to the co pilot position.
Its totally wrong but helis land more easily with no one as pilot, it'll survive most of the time and land evenly on its wheels

I think I know you from the ocuk forums?

The merlin and huey do have bad lag sometimes, not really your fault

Yea its awful when you try it for the first time and then crash an entire squad of guys and then they say "Great pilot". Its like... you know what Merlin Lag is tardface?

Gonna get a new rig before I try that again.

Re: Basic Chopper Tips

Very nice guide! I actually have some very basic questions about the gunner controls as i'm very new to pr.
When the gunner presses the right mouse buttonit leaves this little square. what is the purpose of this? Or is that to be used to lock laser targeted objects with? Thanks

That's exactly what it's used for. Handy if you run out of ammo in your chopper so you can get someone else to hit the target .
