Jigsaw what server do you play on? I'd like to be in a MECINF squad again. When I joined PR in 0.8 I didn't even know what the hell it meant. I thought it was short for Middle Eastern Coalition Infantry. I was like wtf.

Awesome guide Jiggy, And I agree, Mumble is practically a necessary thing for it to be best used.
Is that second picture with the APC covering recent? Because in that one round of Muttrah, Darkcloak and I were in an APC support troops infilrtrating those [very same buildings, and firing HE into the very same building. IIRC, Space was leading an infantry squad into the buildings. But Reality Teamwork doesn't have any BR files atm, so it's just a really, really odd coincidence I'd like to suggest adding an APC as a FSG at times. I've had occasions where there were many enemies in an area, and what we decided to do was drop off the Infantryunder cover and fairly close to the assault point, Fire and Suppress, move back about 100 meters, and continue suppressing. Under many circumstances it's better to stay close, but you alwso want to make it so that the enemy is assaulted by different directions. Sending infantry in one way, retreating another and supporting with lots of suppressive fire (IE, HE in all the windows), not to kill but to disoriente and hopefully wound gives the infantry a much better chance of survival than otherwise. Choosing to move out and support rather than stay extremely close is a decision that must be made out of context. If there is any known threat to the APC (Mines, close spaces, LATs, HATs, IEDs, C4, etc...) than it is far safer for the APC, and thus the infantry, to suppress from afar. The main thing an APC needs to do is remain with the Infantry at all times when there are any contacts, or remain if no one else needs your service. We had many times on Mutrah with several squads requesting different transport, supply or support capabilities, and you need to prioritize. It's not necessary or realistic to clear out all the enemies as an APC for the infantry to waltz through without opposition, but you want to do as much damage and disorienting ads possible to help the infantry before you leave on your next mission. Otherwise, a ground-in defense not first hit by APC fire will destroy the troops and make your work useless. |

I would recommend that the infantry brings weapons with iron sights, or other CQB friendly weapons, because they need to be able to deal with just that (especially in urban enviorments). Grenadiers, marksmen, etc just isn't necessary when you have a 30mm gun and co-ax on the APC/IFV.

An idea for your Light Mechnised/Motorised infantry. Someone sugested recently that a dedicated "Humvee" squad with 4 members could transport and support a full 6 man squad. Not only would they have 2 .50 caliber machine guns for fire support, but they have 2 small supply boxes at their disposal. Further support could be had with the drivers of both humvees having Medic and Auto Rifleman kits.

The concept works very nice in the PR tournament. This is a very good guide Jigsaw. Short and to the point.
