I might just start writing a guide on how to effectively solo-tank...
I'm an armor specialist for CATA in the tournament, and I've got to say, soloing a tank is a complete waste of resources and one of the more regrettable tactics I've seen used on public PR servers.

Well on current maps where all tanks camp on hilltops, you don't really need a driver as he just sits there doing nothing. But when you get hit, you don't stand a chance and not to mention lack of mobility.

The gunner is sort of a spotter

Well the driver is an excelent spotter for the gunner and he can take down choppers with the .50 cal.

Why are you bringing this up again?

The admins had their final word on it and both teams agreed. Funny is, that it's you who's on the edge of the rules now. Your post is nothing but off-topic, insult and trolling.

Now back to the topic.
I have to agree with anyone who said that solo-tanking is crap. Not only that a driver allows you to move freely, but he is, as it's been already said, another pair of eyes. Very useful countermeasure against being flanked

Turn 360 degrees and walk away is what you should do tbh.

I'm not trying to bring up the ire between CATA and NATO here, I'm trying to point out the tactical ineffectiveness of a solo-crewed tank, please keep this on topic.

But, yeah, that extra pair of eyes is vital in combat.

IMO: Solo tanking can be effective, but it isn't ideal. It usually only works against teams on public servers that are soloing tanks themselves or are playing like lemmings steaming from Point A to Point B without taking note of the terrain for potential ambush areas or threat reports or anything.

If you are playing against a team that has some semblance of teamwork and a bit of strategical/tactical know-how, you're asking to get raped if you solo.

amen.

That extra pair of eyes is a must.

Although i have to say i only solo to team mates, make a pick-up and getting the hell outa there, to avoid detection.

Generaly speaking solo is not worth wasting these assets as they are valuable and can determine the outcome of a battle.
Ofcourse there are instaces were a solo driver/gunner/machine gunner can make a positive diference.

Plz excuse my language.

Greets,

Tim
