Default Birth of a new job - supply convoy driver?

This thing crossed my mind when playing mutrah city as mec. Many people just move the supply truck somewhere and leave it, then the mec troops keep walking from the main for the rest of the game. This, combined with a fact that supply boxes are no longer a miraculous self replenishing source of ammo, created a strong need for fast transportation and supply delivery. I did try to take a truck and serve as a counterpart for the US hueys and little birds but not many people did understand what I wanted to do, walking outside the main, ignoring the truck or ignoring my questions about target location.
It would be cool if there was always a convoy squad with one vodnik and one supply truck moving people around. They should travel together as I got shot few times when driving the truck alone. + it's better to loose 2 guys in the vodnik (that drives 1st) than a truck full of troops when the road is mined. Squad leaders can request supply drops so it should be easy for the convoy to see where they are needed.

btw, what is the max number of supply crates / vehicle?

I have actually done that before on Al Basrah map, that map suffers a lot of transport issues despite being so small (mostly due to idiots). I would have 1 truck at my disposal and 2 land rovers to keep up safe. The last person could ride anywhere and when we came across an abandoned vehicle he would jump in there and we bring it back to the base. We weren't doing just that of course though, there was plenty of firebase building and extracting people but it did take people some time to catch on the idea of land transport.

I've tried to do this on multiple occasions, and nobody on a public server really seems to care enough to give me a hand.

As long as you have an escort and stick to the side roads this is probably more safe than using choppers. Good to see someone taking advantage of the new features.

Since we don't have the truck mother spawner of a CP anymore, this job is very important as the trucks get abandoned (which is understandable as people still think we have the afore mentioned truck mother spawner of a CP)

I'd love to see dedicated supply trucks drivers just like transport helicopters pilots but it doesn't seem very popular.

Some very important job are hard to do. As for exemple, very few infantry knows how to properly use air support with smoke and marker. Most of the time you gotta find the target by yourself.

Most cases, brilliant plans are only worked out if you explain every grating detail, and even then, they could be skeptical.

Hopefully it'll catch on in public play. Sounds like a nice job for the team.

I would definitely love to try to get this action going next time I play. Perhaps I'll form up a squad and hopefully get this working in pub play.

Did this in Korengal Valley, had a convoy of two hummers Did one escort run with a supply truck, because getting an FB setup on that map is NOT easy! I like logistics becoming part of the game though.
