True but you could just use the current militia with altered voices, although it might be tough finding someone to do the Chechen voice acting. | |

Re: Maps
I've just been reading about the Georgian Amry on Wikipedia and, now I'm not so sure about Russians fighting militia in Georgia.
Russian military in Georgia - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia It seems to me, that if anything the Russian army would be helping miltia in Georgia. So maybe the map setting, needs to be changed to Chechnya, Ingushetia or Dagestan, if the Brits are to be swapped for Russians. As mentioned earlier, appropriate voice acting would be called for. Alternatively, the militia could be swapped for Russian forces, and a Russian invasion of Georgia could be the new setting. The Brits could again be there as part of a UN/NATO taskforce, or even swapped for the US since Georgia has strong ties to them these days (helping in Iraq and Afghanistan). Finally, you could use the Russian invasion concept, but with Russia vs militia. The militia could be the now underground element, that is left of the Georgian army under Russian occupation. The T-62 would need to be swapped for a T-55 or T-72 though, as it's not in the Georgian army inventory, but the BMP-1 and/or BMP-2 could also be used with HAT missiles attached (AT-3 Sagger and AT-5 Spandrel respectively). EDIT: The T-72 could be borrowed from USI, their ZSU 23-4 Shilka could even be thrown in too! I'd be especially interested to hear Nosferatu's or any other Russian (or Georgian for that matter) opinion on this. |

Re: Maps
Well, my opinion this time could be quite subjective cause during early 1990s I've seen war between Abkhazia and Georgia. During that war both sides used militia tactics. Yes, georgians had pretty much armored units and aircrafts on their side, but main strike force of their army consisted of non-military combatants like Mkhedrioni troops.
I guess you know that armor usage in mountain regions is complicated, so tanks and IFV's were chance-comers during that conflict. As I know, not many things changed in georgian army. They've got some aged technique and good instructors from US, but for now only commando batallion fully equiped and trained by NATO standarts. That's why I can describe georgian army as militia faction. If you want to know my opinion about map scenarios: as any russian, I've little bit tired of Tom Clancy-like propaganda crap about Russian invasion Good research work, though |

Re: Maps
The whole BLUFOR vs. OPFOR debate is wholly dependent on the point of view. Remember that a true villain, the greatest villains in real life and fiction alike, believe that they are working in the name of good, not evil.
I can see that the argument is biased toward the West in a forum like this, but we need to keep in mind that Russia, being an established power, does not deserve to be treated as some third-world OPFOR country, but the (albeit flawed) superpower it was and continues to be. Now that I can put the soapbox away and leave Hyde Park for a while... Just make Fool's Road a Russia vs. Militia map and ignore the fine lines concerning the Georgian Army until we have a map tailor-made to fit that specific conflict. |

Re: Maps
I'm not a mapper, but it'd be cool to have a city modeled like Grozny(Chechen capital)with Russians vs. Militia, Militia have 1x T-62, BBDRM, Spandrel, and the Russians have 2x T-80U's, among other things. Just wouldn't mind seeing the Militia in a city is all.

Re: Maps
please please please do NOT have Daqing Oilfields with the same vehicle layout as there is in the USMC vs PLA version for PR now. it does not work. Put some tanks and one attack chopper for each team, maybe with the choppers on long respawn.
