Poly count guidelines:

But from what I understand, having 10-15% more polies then what is recommended is okay.

1st PV mesh / IronSight / 3rd PV mesh / lowdetailed mesh

Thanks for the guides GeZe.

On another note:
Only problem is people measuring in polygons...
One polygon can be equal to 1000 triangles (or more) - but on meshes like these I'm pretty sure its between 1~5 triangles per polygon, but then again, thats an unknown factor of 5. So I'd sure wish all people would stop saying polys and start saying tris instead, cause honestly, a poly guideline is totally worthless to me.

so, what should be the average amount of tris for a pistol?

To be honest: I dont know. Cause all of the guide lines I have found for the BF2 engine so far is either measured in polygons or has no description of its tris or polys. But I just take approximatly the recommended guidelines at the bottom of each weapon type on GeZe's list and assume its triangles, that way I'm on the safe side.

Alright, This is going to be the last update for tonight since i want to play some pr then go out. I did a hell of alot with cutting down on polys and tris. I don't remember the tri count but i had something like 1433 and now im at 1184. I didnt do the right side yet since i optimized it first. I still have some more optimization to go through then ill do the right side. Then good ole' smooth groups.



Edit: I also changed the front of gun so its smaller
