Hey Folks,
We're looking at adding multi speed armor. Basically there would be 2 speeds for armored vehicles, normal and fast. The question is: Should be have "W" be normal speed and "SHIFT-W" be fast (like sprinting for troopers) OR should be have "W" be fast and "SHIFT-W" be slow ? |
|
Cheers!

I chose option #2 because if you're going fast, you're likely to be escaping from something, or trying to catch up...or any other thing that might have a sense of urgency...and having to hold down the Shift key for a long amount of time really gets annoying as time goes by imo..
It would also make it easier for the driver to turn (faster response) and look around simultaneously, etc... With Shift down, you can have the Normal "Convoy Speed" set so that everyone is covering everyone's back, etc.. Just my opinion. ^ ^ -Ghost |

making fast "shift - w " would encourage the tanks to keep infantry around them. Armor w/ a good inf screen is unbeatable.

Im going to have to agree with ArmedDrunk here. Going normal speed encourages the use of using teamates for screening.

That never worked in Vanilla BF2 and it bugged me. It's in the options control panel. Always wondered why it didn't work.
Anyways I think it makes sense to have it (For gameplay reasons not reality) work like stamina; speed should be Shift+W so you don't have everyone flying around all the time non-stop. -Brummett |

I agree brummett, that last time I checked tanks didnt go full speed down an alleyway in reality. I notice tanks usually go slow to avoid banging their turrets into walls and buildings.

YES!
I agree with using shift+W as slow. Match the speed with normal infantry speed exactly and I will be stoked. |

Shift+W better, because generally you'll want to be going fast more often than slow.
And also, if you want to travel a long distance (think El Alamein or Steel Thunder) you won't want to drive all the way holding shift. |
