Hey Folks,
Here are some WIP renders of the Merlin. This is the British Transport Helicopter to be released in v0.4. The AgustaWestland EH101 was a joint effort of Italian manufacturer Agusta and British manufacturer Westland. The Merlin is operated by many countries throughout the world including the US, Canada, Italy, Japan, Denmark and Britain. It's operated by the Royal Air Force as a Merlin HC3. The Role of the Merlin HC3 is the movement of troops and ammunition around the battlefield. In real life the Merlin has a pilot, navigator, 2 crewman and can carry up to 24 battle ready soldiers. It's the newest support helicopter in the RAF inventory and is a highly advanced aircraft. The "US101" is the designation for the American manufactured Merlin. Recently that helicopter was selected as the aircraft of choice for the "Nighthawks", the helicopter squadron responsible for the transport of the US President and other heads of state. In Project Reality the Merlin will carry 1 pilot and a full 6 man squad of troops. It will be armed with 2 x 7.62 calibre GPMGs in the windows. The Merlin is "roughed in" in game right now, but eGor forgot to check it in before heading to Cornwall for a drinking binge, so we have some lovely renders for you. Model by [R-DEV]Samonius, UV and Textures by [R-DEV]Stigger, Renders prepared by [R-DEV]2Slick4U, coding and forgetting to check it in before going on a drinking binge by [R-DEV]eGor. I don't even know if eGor drinks, I think he just ran out of time before leaving, but the binge story had a better ring to it. |

The ramp should be operational, but not sure if it will be pilot controlled or operate like landing gear where it lowers when the pilot goes below a certain speed. Can't recall where eGor left off.
The cockpit is gorgeous, it's a seperate first person model and texture. We had a render of it, but the MFD screens were blank which made it look really odd .. so we left it out until Stigger finishes off the texture. |
