Actually the military is getting a huge boost, just recently PM Harper announced an increase of military spending. According to my friend in the CF right now the main goal is a "Well equipped but small force"

The Defence Department budget will now increase by an additional 0.5 per cent every year - on top of the 1.5 per cent annual increase the government has already promised. Harper announced the boost Thursday to a defence-industry crowd and said it will begin in 2011. It will give the military $90 million more the first year and more each year after that.

That was a joke, sarcasm you know but it is true. The Canadian Government has never given the Canadian Forces a large budget unless we are in a war. After the war, they decrease the budget, and the Canadian Forces are stuck with the cheapest gear they can get. It is only unti'll recently the Canadian Government said they would modernize our military but you won't see those effects unti'll like 2020 and only time will tell if they actually keep a higher budget up this time, or decrease it again.

The Lee Enfield was a British weapon, the Mosin Nagat was a Russian Weapon, and the KAR98 was the German Weapon. Those wern't hand me downs for those countries, all the super powers at that time developed there own weapons. Countries like Canada recieved hand-me downs from both Britain, and the United States. Still, doesn't that prove my point anyways?

Well its like anything else in Canada, every one wants more, but nobody wants to pay for... You cant reduce tax and got more, its impossible..

The Ross rifle (Altough it was a horrible weapon) was a Canadian weapon and was the mass produced weapon for the Canadian forces during the WWII. Canadians used the Sten and Bren MGs from the british army (Because they were comonwealth buddy-buddies) and the british helmets. USA was different as they were not part of the comonwealth... Canadians also did not mass used US small arms.

Well we now use canadian made guns, build by Diemaco ( Colt Canada ), our LAV25 and LAV3 are build at General Dynamics Land Systems Canada... we build part for many missile, jet fighter, combat helicopter... we do some progress you know
