ok so i have some questions after looking at the canadian army site.

would the c3a1 be the marksman kit and would the lrsw(McMillan TAC-50) be the sniper kit for the canadian forces?

C14 (PGW Timberwolf rifle in .338 Lapua Magnum) is replacing the C13 (Parker Hale 82 in 7.62mm NATO). It is a true sniper's weapon rather than a designated marksman's rifle. The C15 (McMillan Tac-50 made famous by 3 PPCLI) is a specialist weapon.

The CF are experimenting with the section DM concept based on experience in Afghanistan, and two weapons are used for this, the AR-10T (7.62mm NATO rifle similar to the SR-25) and an accurized version of the C7. They're being used operationally at the moment, but their future with the CF is not immediately known.

The Canadian Army use The McMillan TAC-50 LRSW (Long Range Sniper Weapon) & The C3A1 & C3 (Parker-Hale M82)

Here is a vid on the McMillan LRSW

i dont know how many times i am gonna have to type this. The C3 has been replaced by the C14 timberwolf. The C3 has been pushed down to the platoon as a designated marksman. The LRSW .50, is used along side of the C14. The AR10 is not used at the platoon level but used by our sniper as a backup wpn to the C14.

all this said... the C14 is the primary siper rifle
AR10 used by sniper and not the platoons
LRSW .50 is used by snipers for extreme ranges or where the power is needed
C3, used at the platoon level as a marksman(still experimental at the moment)

my source..... my buddies in the sniper cell here in CFB Gagetown
and this link for you ppl that dont seem to beleive ppl with the experience of fithging overseas CF Rifles - C14 Timberwolf - Snipers Rifle - C14 MRSWS - Medium Range Sniper Weapons System - CASR DND 101 - Canadian American Strategic Review - 338 Lapua - C3A1 Replacement - Afghanistan Mission - Government Military Contracts - Canadian Forces - C

so from what i understand from you posts the c13 be the dm and the 14 or the lrsw would be the sniper depending on the map? also is the c9a1 going to be the automatic rifleman and if it is will it have a scope or just iron sights?

Yes, I just realized now I did that. Thanks!

Where does the C7CT fit into the equation, though? Section level, or is it an observer/security element weapon for the sniper teams?

not the C13...the C3, the C13 is a hand grenade, the C3 is the old sniper rifle. and your right the C14 would be the primary sniper kit, and have the LRSW hidden in the map somewhere for longer shots or where the stopping power is needed.

regardless if its the C9A1 or the C9A2, they both have the C79A2 optical sight.

the C7CT is not used in the Rgular forces... is was suppose to be the DM rifle... but we are still experimenting with that.... so the C7CT went to CSOR and JTF2 units(our SOF and special forces)

why sound so surprised.... SF and SOF can use whatever wpn they want..... what makes a wpn soo good for them...... the Operator behind it. if you train long enough with the same gear all the time you will become efficient with it,.... regardless of what it is
