Gunship/Attack helo

Deployed Canadian soldiers are not under UN control most of the time. Kosovo and Afghanistan both were NATO missions. There are ongoing UN activities but they are quite small, <100 men IIRC.

Canada could deploy F-18s to support the ISAF mission but several are still in patrol in Kosovo (according to a documentary on TV, could be out of date)and others are needed to keep Russian Bears out of our airspace.

Being a Canadian (and french-canadian might I even add), in my knowledge, the Canadian Forces currently do not possess any ''Gunships'', instead we have a normal CH-146 Griffon Refitted with either rocket pods or side mounted machine guns (like those on a black hawk). And for the CH-149 Comorant, we're currently using it as Coast Guard Search and Rescue only not as a military aircraft. But for the Gunship problem, why not just re-model the AH-1Z Super cobra to represent the canadian forces? I has been an idea and, to me, might be a possibility for the canadian armed forces as a sutable Gunship. Being in the Arty, I know that when a FAC (Forward Air Controller) calls in an air strike or attack Helicopter, (in Afghanistan at least) the US provide air support from AH-1Z Cobras. It is because we are working very closely with them. When arty is called in, its the Canadians new M777s and Jdams are dropped by our beautiful C/F-18 Hornets.


If you were to incorporate an Attack Helicopter, I suggest making it a Task Force chopper, not a Canadian helo, if you want it as realistic as you can. Theres no point of creating something that doesn't exist in out Armed Forces. You could even just add the US Cobra, with it clearly showing up on the skin. Thats my two cents.

were you deployed over there??? cuz in 6 months of fighting we never seen one CF18 as our air cover.... we had F15's, F16's, Mirage's, A10's and even on a few occasion some B1's. as for helos i havent seen one cobra over there and even less give us some air cover... the helo's providing air cover were all AH-64 Apache's.

in saying this in totally agree with you on the aircraft being a coalition one... i would go with the AH-64 and not the cobra

As far as I know, Canadian forces doesn't have any kind of Attack Helicopter. We mostly use the CH-146 Griffon | Aircraft | Canada’s Air Force

and American Air support

But I would certainly love CF buying some attack helicopters.

Well I haven't been deployed yet, thats information I have acquired from my bomber's and master bomber's who have been deployed. I wasn't trying to make it look like I went over there, like in infantry, your trained on weapons systems and tactics, part of our training we know what the duties of FACs and FOOs are. I was simply stating what I know.

i wasent trying tp put you down.... i was just wondering if you were deployed.... and if you would have said yes then i would've ask you what region you called upon one

our FOO had a sweet time everytime we got into it..... we drained an F15 on one OP lol

this is getting absurd and quite comical, attack choppers,f18's,new anti tank systems.these guys (devs) are having enough problems (not their fault either) doing what bare minimum needs to be done to get to the first release. (when was the last progress report?)

if you have any skills at all i implore you to stop with extras and help them finish the basics of what the PR devs actually want from canada to get in the mod.

Why would Canada need to have a attack chopper? Just make a map for Canada where there is no attack choppers like the majority of PR maps. If theres a map needed for choppers, then just make it transport only and leave out the attack choppers in it. I mean PR is about realism, but balance as well other wise Canada would also have the vanilla artillery.

This is really being more difficult then it really should be.

All you need is the Infantry setup, APC's, Tanks, Vehicles, transport choppers, and jets.

Since Canada doesn't have as much variety or detailed equipment like Britain, or the US. This should be a far simpler mod to create, then the US Army mod (Which from viewing the updates, is almost done).

Just like Project Reality mods originally did, was get actually British soldiers to work with the mods to help develop the equipment, show what was wrong and what was right. What needed adding, or fixing and give information as to what equipment they use, or system. Etc.

There are quite a few Canadian Forces members roaming around in the Project Reality forums. I would make a announcement for a call for any experienced Canadian Forces members to help with the Canadian Forces mod. Get there expert opinion, and experience to answer all these questions in a 1 vs 1 conversation with some of the mods that are working on this.

I agreed we dont realy need them, or Apache from US Army can do it, ingame.
But, on the real field, our soldiers need it.
