They are looking to buy some, and some project to transform Griffon into gunship ( stupid idea IMO ) Anywayz, lets wait and see.

and for P.R. may be like in Kashan 0.6, the Close Air Support can be provided by UK WAH-64 or USAr HA-64, not the USMC, cause in fact i dont remember seen USMC working whit C.F., But i know they work whit U.S.Army and British in Afganistan

Actually an armed Griffon would suit Canada's CAS quite nicely IMO. USMC currently uses armed UH-1N/Y Hueys in conjunction with AH-1 Cobras as part of the light attack squadrons. Relatively cheap when compared to modern gunships such as the Eurotiger, Apache and Super Cobra. A FLIR, miniguns and some rockets would work pretty well.

Canada is a "Peace Keeper/Maker" so we dont "realy" need "Heavy Gunships" since United States have thousand of Apaches and Cobras.

We are looking to acquiring some, i hope National Defense Minestry will go for EuroTiger or Apache... giving to our troops the best stuff...Griffon is a transport chopper, not an attack one, remember Somalia when USA use Black Hawk as gunship....

But as far i know, CF18 S.Hornet is capable of C.A.S. missions.

Hotrod, if you havent noticed, we are at WAR right now. Canada is no longer a "peacekeeper" country. Additionally I have yet to ever meet a "Peacekeeper" I only have met soldiers, the notion of a "Peacekeeper" is a flawed one, and only serves to make the line between soldier and police very blurry.

As for the politics of it all, the Liberal Party would not know an intelligent military decision if it came up and kicked them in the arse, and it has a few times in the past. From what I have seen, the current Liberal Party tactic is to denounce anything that the Conservative Party proposes, and then block it with half-baked speeches, instead of trying to hammer out a good middle ground.

Also, C.A.S. is provided by a few Griffon Helicopters when it is deemed necessary for the mission. This is possible by rocket pods attached to the Helicopter. Also, what happened in Somolia is totally different than what we are facing in Kandahar and the surrounding area. Of the enemy forces that are encountered (and this comes directly from experienced veterans within the Royal Westminister Regiment) most are killed in swift fashion by Infantry, Lav-III's, or Artillary support. C.A.S. with CF-18's is really killing a ant with a shotgun in the situation we face over there.

Additionally, as a Canadian Forces Member I am VERY FUCKING PROUD of the effort and skill going into this modification. Keep up the good work everyone, I cant wait to see more excellent work in the future.

Canada is a PEACE KEEPER. Yeah we are at war now, but as you know, We are in Afganistan to REBUILD IT and MAINTAIN PEACE FOR U.N. We are not AGRESSORS, we didnot Invade or attack any nation just Because we wanted too like United States, and we dont have the effective for that ! 65 000 active and 25 000 reserves...

I dont say Canadian soldier are not well trained, i just said, Canadian soldier wear a "Blue helmet" most of the time!

Griffon is a nice helicoptere but i still think is not "born" for C.A.S. mission, a real Gunship like Apache would be better in alot more situation, Griffon have to been close to engage, Apache is able to engage infantry too far for let them return fire or even know whats happening.

And why not use F18 in Afganistan ? i mean... US use A10,B2,B52,F16,F18... our pilot would get some stuff to do... Begotville is pretty cold at this time of the year lol.
